Comments Thread For: Nathan Cleverly Must Fight Krasniqi Next, Rules The WBO

The World Boxing Organization has ruled that light heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly (24-0, 11KOs) must face a ranked opponent on November 10th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. If Cleverly is going to fight an opponent outside of the top fifteen, the WBO will only allow a ten round non-title bout. If the fight is going to be against a ranked opponent, then the winner will have to fight mandatory challenger Robin Krasniqi.

It's amazing how these governing bodies bully the likes of Cleverly etc into unification fights yet Floyd's held the welterweight title for what a year now and no-one's mentioned a thing.

When you have Floyd holding a belt, you just assign another version of the title to avoid anything to do with him.

That's why Robert Guerrero has a trinket at 147 that used to be Floyd's title. Or it's some interim/diamond/aluminum version of it. Who knows (or cares) how they phrase their dog **** titles these days?

It kind of works out though*, love him or hate him Floyd has built his name and fought top contenders which has given him pull and bargaining power.

        Cleverly hasn't.

*obviously still it's a crap situation

So who is Cleverly actually fighting in November? He dropped that European bum to fight an American bum and now that fight has fallen through due to 'legal issues'?

Seriously? The WBO gave Clev a belt without him having to fight for it and since then he's been allowed to fight one hand-picked opponent after another, now he's being bullied because the WBO finally want him to fight someone in the top 15, come on now.

Bullied? I have yet to see Cleverly fight a world class fighter and he's 4 fights deep with his world title he's had it cushty fighting journeymen and novices who don't belong at world level.

The WBC are banking on Mayweather fighting Pacquiao or another big name because they get a 3% sanctioning fee each from Mayweather and his opponent.

And Robert Guerrero is the interim WBC champion so if Floyd does vacate Guerrero will be champion.

To gain any credibility clev has to fight Shumenov, Cloud or Dawson before next Summer.
