Salido started his career at the tender age of fifteen. (With possibly no amateur experience at all.) "Siri" lost a lot of early bouts (which is why many people underrate him). He's a real blue-collar champ. Orlando had to claw his way to the top.

Rigo, on the other hand, couldn't be more different. He's literally a living amateur legend. Like it or not, great amateurs have always had a leg up on their fellow pro rookies. They're simply more proven than your typical newbie professional.

There's simply no reason why Donaire can't fight Guille now. "Earning" a shot is really a weak demand. "El Chacal" won an interim WBA belt in his seventh pro fight and the "full" version in only his ninth. Rigondeaux is "Ring" magazine's #1 contender. If Nonito doesn't want to give Rigo an opportunity, that's his choice; but let's not pretend the reason is because Guillermo has to "earn" anything.
Right there is my problem with Nonito, the excuses...

Would be a really good fight, Salido is much craftier than he looks and his awkwardness would give Donaire a lot of problems.

Yes, but Salido is not Matebula or Vasquez, I never seen him timid or tentative in any fight.

Hefought Marquez in a bery entertaining bout, Robert Guerrero, Gamboa and more...never ever seen Salido being scare of mixing it up with the best, and I doubt Nonito's fight will be the exception.

Salido is not just awkward and crafty, but he comes to fight a full twelve rounds. The guy just doesn't stop. The only way you beat someone like that is by being significantly better. Orlando's relentlessness makes up for the shortcomings he might have as a boxer.

Both Donaire and Garcia would be in for a dogfight with Salido. That's why I pick "Siri" over both. Mikey has never faced such a determined and capable opponent. I don't think Garcia will make it through the fire. If he does, he'll instantly be #1 at 126 in my book. The same can be said for Nonito.

            Agreed.

Donaire will have plenty of chances to counter Salido, because Orlando is a busy fighter, but I'm not sure Nonito will be such a fearsome ****er at 126. Salido will take his power and bore in repeatedly to score a brutal win. Orlando fought a damn good fight versus Gamboa, and there's no way Donaire has more power or speed than Yuri at featherweight. Nonito will have to box beautifully to get the win. I don't think that's gonna happen.

Agreed about Garcia but Donaire is a different breed, he's more experienced and more offensive oriented than Gamboa. When faced with Salido's awkwardness, Yuri reverted to his amateur style of landing one shot then moving away. Donaire will try to do damage like he always does and you best believe he will load up on those left hooks and will let them combinations go. If Salido takes them and keeps coming, it could be another Concepcion fight where Donaire gets hit a lot but still pulls out a D.

Gamboa's a pretty aggressive fighter, I don't agree that Donaire is more "offensive oriented". Whatever the case, if Nonito tries to mix it up with Salido, someone's gotta give. I believe that "someone" will be Donaire. And let's not forget that "Siri" is proven at 126, while Nonito would be moving up yet again.

Yeah it sounds weird to say that about Donaire because he's a counter puncher but my point is, he tries to go for the KO everytime while Gamboa sometimes just pot-shots and moves when the fight is difficult.

Donaire could very well lose this one, Salido is a tough mother****a.

Gamboa used to be much more reckless, but he's gotten smarter. I prefer to see him back off a little than get dragged into a war. In the ensuing madness, things become far more unpredictable. It's easy to get caught with a bomb. That's what happened to JuanMa. Lopez allowed his pride to get the better of him and lost to the tougher man. If Donaire tries to do the same, I foresee a similar outcome. I don't think there's anyone at 126 that's tougher than Salido.
