Fighting the "best" and fighting guys we want them to fight are not always the same thing. You're acting like fans didn't buy tickets or tune in to see Nonito fight Montiel/Nishioka, those were the most notable fighters at 118/122. I'm one of Nonito's detractors, but he deserves more credit than you're giving him. I DO want him to clean out a division and will be pissed if he doesn't fight Mares/Moreno/Rigo before moving up, but he doesn't have a garbage resume.

They should do Donaire vs. Arce with Rigo vs. Darchinyan as the co-main event.
Then set up Donaire Rigo in Summer 2013.
The fight could use a little building up. I think its too easy to make for it not to happen. Its an in-house fight. That's what Arum is known to do.
I have no reason to believe Donaire will fight a GBP fighter so keep dreaming about that.Comment

I am always amused to the idea that Rigo should fight Darch first before dreaming fighting for Donaire. Rigo is a good fighter but pairing him with Donaire at this stage IMO is an absolute overhyping him. Rigo became a WBA champ in his just 9th fights, now he wants to become a super bantam over-all world champion! He always love to short-cut his way to the top, but there are some good fighters along the way before reaching Nonito. It's not bad to dream the best as almost every fighters dreamt of this, yet would be understood if at Rigo stature right now would be turn down by Donaire for a reason. Fighting for someone is not just for bravery but economic wise too. I don't believe that Rigo is far better than Mares, Moreno or Mijares.. but these 3 fighters are ups economically than Rigo because they built their fan-base already much wider that Rigo fan-base.Comment

That's what it is, all talk. Twice on television he was asked to fight Rigo and twice he pretty much said no.
Only reason he's mentioning Mares-Moreno, knowing the fight won't be made, is so that people will be like "well at least he called out those two." Donaire is like that dude that when **** goes down and somebody holds him back (in this case the GBP/TR feud) he starts acting all tough.Comment

Hopefully this wish will come true. However, this is a wait-and-see situation.
It will boil down to w/c fight is the MOST profitable.Comment

3 years? That's about 9 fights, assuming that nothing side-lines Nonito. Arce will most likely be his last fight at 122lb. I don't see Mares/Rigo being successful traveling up to 126, but Moreno has the frame to do so. Mares/Moreno/Rigo should be on the top of his to-do list. Can you name 9 opponents that take precedence over the aforementioned names? Salido/Gamboa are the only two I can think of.Comment

Anyone actually believe Nonito wants them? He's learning how to lie like his matchmaker, Arum. They're going to wait until Rigo is in his mid 30s at a higher weight. I think that's their plan.Comment
