Comments Thread For: IBF Responds To Nonito Donaire on Title Belt and Fees

WBC Diamond Belt and WBO super bantamweight/junior featherweight champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire’s IBF belt, which he should have received after winning the title from Jeffrey Mathebula last July in California, is on the way.

When Donaire decided to relinquish his IBF title claiming he didn’t wish to pay the sanction fee amounting to $42,000 for the title fight against Japan’s Toshiaki Nishioka last October 13 and mentioned that he hadn’t received his IBF belt, we contacted IBF Championship Committee chairman Lindsey Tucker about it.

the problem wasnt the the fees. the problem is that he had to fight his mandatory by december and he had no intention of doing it so he would have been stripped anyways so it was pointless for him to pay 40k for a belt that he would only have for 2 months.

This is why boxers are broke. The sanctioning fees are too much and unifying titles makes the fees multiply and on top of that each sanctioning body wants to provided retirement plans? Another way to milk the boxers. On top of that you got managers fees, trainers, cut men, Strength and conditioning coaches, nutritionist and besides taxes and what ever the promoters steal from you. Damn! Its better to stay in school!

th oning fees ar to be paid by the promoter, always, & unless he screws he boxer, it's not taken from the boxer...Belt fees re also paid by the promoter if the boxer wants it, as w/IBF/Donairre...WBO/C have 3% fes as, "so states IBF, so I fon't know...WBA is in another world down there in Panama, 4 all I know Noreiga is getting a cut...

3% on each sanctioning body. That, my friends, is why we will not see an undisputed champion again. A 7 figure fighter going to be paying $120,000+ to be recognized as undisputed champion.

That is seriously some racket these guys have going. Forget being a world champion... running a corrupt-ass sanctioning body is where the real money is.

2% of his purse for a retirement plan. How does this retirement plan work?

Why they need so much money? If they are really interested in the sport they can charge a flat fee. Why a percentage of the purse? All those organizations are disgraceful for playing the fighters like that.

Those fees are like an entry level job salary. Who wants to pay that unless they get millions of dollars.

I can only imagine guys like Pacquiao and Mayweather paying for sanctioning fees by percentage. If it's true that the WBC charges 3%, then some one like Floyd making $25Mill, has to pay $750k of sanctioning fees. Titles with their bullsh-t rules, and bullsh-t fees. Just charge one price for all like the poster above me said.

ALL those organism's(WBA, WBC, IBF & WBO & the rest of the alphabet orgs) are a bunch of PARASITES!! They are a bunch LEECHES!! They should just drop them ALL, cause the belt DOESN'T MAKE THE FIGHTER ANY BETTER, actually the fighters caliber is what gives these belts value!!!!
