I could forgive Audley for his own shortcomings as a pro in themselves, and indeed did a long time ago. However, he is responsible, not wholly but significantly, for the demise of boxing as a part of the UK's cultural and sporting consciousness by screwing up when the BBC bought into him. Carl Froch and David Haye were on the table for the same deal. That is the real reason for the antipathy so many feel towards him in this country.

I agree, the treatment of Audley by a lot of fans doesn't really sit well with me. Partly because of that great night in Sydney, but mainly because he's actually a really good bloke. He deserves better.
Calling him a bum seems very wrong. Olympic gold and heavyweight champion of europe, not a bad accomplishment from the sport. As of now, Chisora, Price and Fury are all some way short of what Audley managed to achieve.
