Good fighter is Barker, shame about the injuries hes had.
Hopefully he can get a run of fights together and stay injury fee as there is some good fights for him out there at Middleweight.

I feel bad for him tbh hes had such bad luck with injuries, the tragic death of his brother (Who is said to of been an outstanding amateur talent and better than Darren), getting attacked by that gang etc
Hes a good kid and a very decent commentator too IMO

I really hope he can get on track and show what I know hes capable of. I would love to see him vs Macklin.
For me he is the darkhorse in that division, if he can stay motivated and avoid injuries, he'll do big things.

Barker is so unlucky, Macklin has had a lot more publicity but I still think Darren has more talent than him and Martin Murray. Maybe he doesn't have the knockout power to beat say the top 5 middleweights but he could outbox many top boxers in his weight class.

          Don't hold your breath.

Barker is a good British middleweight who'd do nicely to settle as a gatekeeper. He's the sort of fighter who'll beat the fringe contenders but lose once he steps up.

Should be pursuing fights with the rest of the British middleweight crop, that is if he can stay injury free.

^^ this. took the words right outta my mouth. barker is a good fighter, but he will not hang with the top middleweights. but he IS a good fighter, nevertheless...

totally agree hes a pure boxer something murray and macklin arnt although they are good fighters i do rate barker above them he just needs a good fight to build the platform to another title shot one british boxer i would keep him away from though is young billy joe though i dont think there paths will cross i think those 2 are the best middleweights we have

Maybe for 6 rounds, till he gasses. Or was he injured for Belghecham and Spada?

Against Spada he was coming off a long lay off from a brutal St attack where he was jumped by a gang.
For him to come back and look so sharp against a decent Euro level operator like Spada I felt was damn impressive though he did fade a bit late on.

No excuses for Belghecham other than he is a guy who makes everyone look pretty bad. Hes been in with Andy Lee, N'Dam etc and nobody has ever really looked that good against him to his credit. Hes just an awkward as hell southpaw though I believe I had Barker winning pretty comfortably.

Barker is a very good fighter if he can stay fit and get a run of fights I could see him winning one of the alphabet titles.

Barker V Macklin....... the fight just makes so much sense. They both fought Sergio, both got KO'd, but both gave him a little trouble in the early rounds. There's a domestic rivalry there and it's one of the biggest fights that can be made in Britain. Good pay day for both men.... why hasn't it been made yet!!!!!!!!????????
