No one appreciates pure boxing skills anymore. Whether he sells tickets or not, Timothy Bradley would have been considered a true warrior in the 80's and 90's. He would be looked at as a fighter who would go anywhere and face any opponent. He would be recognized as a one time unified champion and a champion of 2 different weight devisions. He would be looked on as a fighter that took his craft very serious and always prepared and came into a fight in topnotch condition. With the exception of punching power, he could be compared to Hagler and Holyfield.

Roach is correct when he says Bradley doesn't sell tickets, but he is lying when saying Marquez is the harder fight. Roach already knows what they will get with Marquez. The fact that Manny has slowed up is the reason Marquez will always be difficult. Where Manny has always depended on his ability, Marquez depends on pure skills. But because Marquez is almost 40, he will never present the threat that Bradley does. Roach knows that Manny is not effective unless he is landing power shots. Marquez will be there to land those shots on, Bradley won't. Bradley will box Manny all night and keep turning and countering him, Marquez will sooner or later stand and trade. To be honest, if I was in control of Manny's career, I would fight Marquez too and not Bradley. Pacquiao fans and these modern day fans of boxing saw Manny blow out Tim. But old school boxing fans saw Bradley highly competitive whether they thought he won or not. But everyone seems to forget that this undefeated champion battled with a beast like Manny with 2 hurt feet. The man was injured over half the fight and still made Manny miss most of his power shots and won the championship rounds of the fight.

Its time for Manny and Floyd to retire. If their only concern is to fight the guys who sell tickets and not fight the best, then its time to get out of the sport, and let the real fighters who want to prove they are the best, and go and fight the best, take over. Bradley want the payday with fighting Manny, but he wanted to prove he was the best. Did he prove it that night? No! But Manny didn't look like the best either and that's why they should fight again, not because Tim doesn't sell tickets.
Could not agree more. Beautifully put.

    • I disagree Roach its not just money. Lets be honest that Pac only wanted a rematch clause in case he lost the first fight. But as he clearly won the first fight, the desire for a rematch isnt there as it would be if he lost the first fight.

      • The first fight wasn't great, and Pacquaio won easily. I don't need to see a rematch, I'd rather watch Bradley fight Khan. Much more interesting fight.

        • Hilarious how people are acting like Bradley deserves a rematch or Pacquiao is ducking now, even more hilarious is that Bradley is a harder fight now then Marquez.

He flat out refused to fight Amir Khan. Amir freakin Khan

And this was after Khan offered him a career high payday with 50/50 of the UK PPV

He wouldn't even have the balls to be in the same room as SRL, Hearns or Duran

As far as I know, he did not win easily, he lost a split decision.

At the end of the day, it's judges who decide the scoring, not fans.

              • I think people may be missing the point of some the criticism towards Roach's comments. Pacquiao's fans have constantly used the attitude to money as a way to distinguish him from Mayweather. I've seen it plenty of times on this site and others that Pacquiao supposedly cares more about legacy, fans, country.... whatever, more than money. Now with this, those fans are being called out on it rather than it being a criticism of Pacquiao himself. Those that have abate on for Mayweather have used Pacquiao as some sort of anti-thesis for what a boxer's supposed to be. Now it appears that maybe when it comes to the business side of boxing, they might not be so different after all.

Pacquiao's fight with Hatton nearly fell apart at yhe last minute because Pacquiao made a late demand for more money. Pacquiao's team showed their crafty side boxing Cotto into defending his title under weight stips demanded by the challenger. They got a title at 154lbs under similar circumstances, tried a repeat on Cotto and don't feel avenging a robbery is worth it because of money.

jvsnypes called it right in that the sport is so different. In another time, fans would've wanted record set straight on a robbery. Roy Jones didn't settle for DQ even though he battered Hill. He wanted to erase that result personally. Did anyone care what Hill sold? Basically, those that painted Pacquiao as some kind of righteous boxing crusader just have to swallow the fact that he's motivated by the same things they all are. That, or he's too weak a character to tell his team who he wants to fight. Like I said before, he's at the stage where he can pick, but lets be real, he is picking and the factor is the dollar.

                • I don't know Marco Antonio Barrera got a rematch and I believe 100% of people felt Pacquiao won that fight in fact Barrera got destroyed like never before. Margarito got a fight that was interesting. I don't think Bradley has even thought bout cheating except w his head maybe haha. Marquez gets 4 fights and he hasn't won a single time according to the judges. As far as ticket sales and a tough fight Cotto was the way to go. Pacquiao won the fight to me clearly but Bradley didn't do that bad either. In fact Bradley stood the challenge better then some of the other fighter Pacquiao has fought. He didn't get knocked down or out, he didn't run, didnt give up, and never stop throwing punches. How many of Pacquiaos opponents hav done that its a short list. Consider this Bradley did what some believe Mayweather will never do get in the ring w Pacquiao, fight toe to toe, withstand Pacquiao's power, not run, and last the whole fight to get a split decision win haha. Mayweather is considered a p4p fighter. Yet Bradley doesn't deserve another fight w Pacquiao. Well I'm not the one Pacquiao needs to convince its the only people on the planet that matter the judges and he didn't do that. Bradley most definitely deserves a second fight and Pacquiao should want the rematch.

                  • Pac Bradley rematch

I don't know if believe everything the HBO announcers said about Manny winning the fight hands down. Watch it with the sound off and see how many punches Bradley was slipping and the counters he nailed Manny with. I think without the biased announcing team at HBO, you'll see a completely different fight and clearly see the hard shots Bradley was hitting Pac Man with all night. Bradley won this fight hands down and Roach knows it. Money isn't the reason the fight isn't happening. HBO would gladly show the rematch and pay the fighters handsomely. Watch it, don't be swayed by Lamply and crew and you'll see just what a beating Bradley dished out that night. Pac knows, Roach knows. They just don't want you to know.
