Comments Thread For: Bradley's Trainer on Peterson, Rips Critics, Jabs Pacquiao

That latest news regarding WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley has the 29-year old lined up with a December 15th rematch with IBF junior welterweight titlist Lamont Peterson in Miami, Florida. In their first meeting nearly three years ago, Bradley dropped Peterson in the third round on his way towards a convincing unanimous decision victory inside of the Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage, California.

Admittedly, a second encounter with Peterson isn’t the fight Bradley was after. Having upset Manny Pacquiao via a controversial split-decision on June 9th, Bradley was eager to show his worth with an immediate rematch with the Filipino icon.

Having caught up with Bradley’s trainer Joel Diaz over the weekend, the Indio, California-based coach seemed a little discouraged when assessing his fighter’s future. Still stinging from the negative backlash that came from the Pacquiao victory, Diaz opened up on a variety of topics, including another Peterson melee, Manny’s December 8th meeting with Juan Manuel Marquez, his thoughts on boxing’s critics, and much more. rematches should only happen when there is a competitive good fight. bradley peterson wasn't competitive and it wasn't the kind of all action slugfest that warrants a rematch. quite frankly im suprised hbo would pay for this fight but turn down bradley vs judah. atleast bradley judah is something new. peterson fought ortiz to a draw and got a hometown decision against khan. he hasn't exactly been a world beater to deserve a rematch coming off a banned substance suspension. i see why people quit watching boxing. top rank needs to just work with golden boy so bradleys career doesn't go down the ****ter.

I FIRMLY believe Pac is ducking Tim! Nobody cares to see Marquez continuously cry "I beat Manny"!!!! The "boring fighter who everyone knows I really beat" is an excuse to not face Tim again.Marquez and Bradley would be great. A vengeful Pac and Tim would be great. This is b.s

This is a pointless rematch. I was really looking forward to either Guerrero or Berto, or even someone like Maidana would have been good with me. Bradley already dominated Peterson.

LOL, yeah no way Marquez wins a decision against Pacquiao, but Bradley did. GTFO. This camp keeps acting like Bradley's much better than Marquez when it's clear to anyone he isn't. God damn.

Some terrible responses to these questions. You're losing your love for the sport because people are correctly calling Bradley's win over Pacquiao a robbery? GTFO with that bullsh**. How the f*** is Diaz going to talk about robberies when his fighter just benefited from one?

I also notice he used the, "We fight who the promoters say" line that everyone criticizes Pac for using. Let's see who mentions it besides me.

I thought it was a good interview. Not that I agreed with every word but the responses were not the typical 'towing the line/predictable' comments that are sometimes given. I think Bradley clearly wanted a meaningful fight and instead is stuck with Peterson.
