I've never heard of the guy but props to him for having the balls to be himself
And there are gay people of every country so I don't see why people have to dis another country over something like this

I actually don't care if a boxer is gay or not, but if I have to hear about him being gay everytime I watch him fight then I'll be pissed.
I have a feeling I'll be pissed

Not a good move for his career...Now he's gonna have a hell of a time getting high profile fights, 'cus let's face it - who wants to lose to a gay guy?

Props to Orlando Cruz for having the courage to do so.Originally posted by Motofan View PostExactly. Glad to see not everyone on here has the same mentality as a ten year old in the 1950's...
I'm sure there are plenty of other gay boxers out there, probably not even the ones people suspect. What Orlando Cruz has done takes guts. I applaud him.

Sergio Martinez does the "it gets better" charity stuff for LGBT kids and it is pretty obvious he wouldn't do it if he wasn't himself gay, but still he doesn't make it define who he is as a fighter or person. Whoever you go to bed with is your business. Just let me watch boxing, thanks.
And, Sergio Martinez isn't gay. I think he's just private about his relationship. If he were, however, it shouldn't be an issue....and he, too, would probably make an announcement of it.

I would never have thought that a Puerto Rican (or Mexican) would have been the first to come out (during their career).
Good luck to him. His ***uality has nothing to do with me but if he can inspire young kids (whether gay or straight) to have the courage to face up to adversity then good for him.
I will remain as indifferent to his career as I previously was. I wish him the best in life.
