Why doesn't he just retire before he either gets hurt or makes a fool out of himself?Originally posted by Rick ReenoFormer undisputed heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield told BBC Radio Five Live that he is hoping to land a fight against newly crowned WBA champion Nicolay Valuev. [details]
He was a great champion, he should be happy with that.
Does he have money problems??? -

Yeah but this is a pretty good opportunity for Evander to finally win the title again. Hopefully he does so he will finally retire!Comment

The thing is that if he did win he would carry on, I think its deep in his nature, just one more fight, the problem he has is that he WILL meet a younger, stronger fighter like Brewster who will hurt him.
There is already a slur in his speech, thats not good!
Holyfield has never been a 'catch me if you can' fighter he has always been a warrior, its taken its toll and its time for him to retire gracefully, in my opinion!Comment

I totally agree with you but he has stated many times that he is going to continue till he wins the title again. He will not stop. I am just hoping that winning it will be enough for him, but it probably won't. Obviously not winning it isn't getting him to change his mind.Originally posted by MickyHattonThe thing is that if he did win he would carry on, I think its deep in his nature, just one more fight, the problem he has is that he WILL meet a younger, stronger fighter like Brewster who will hurt him.

Too bad. However skilless Valuev might be, Holyfield will not have more than 2-3 rounds in him.
Look at what Valuev did to Paolo Vidoz (an olympic medalist, a top 10 boxrec HW). Ask Badblood for this fight.
That will be a terrible, terrible fight.Last edited by Nautilus; 12-20-2005, 11:33 AM.Comment

Yeah, I did see that fight already and Vidoz hit Valuev with a huge right, right on the sweetspot of the chin and it didn't faze Valuev. I just wish Valuev was more aggressive and used less boxing.Comment

I aslo loved it when Vidoz ran across the ring and threw a hard puch right into Valuev's chest. Valuev just kept coming forward.Originally posted by TheFairPoleYeah, I did see that fight already and Vidoz hit Valuev with a huge right, right on the sweetspot of the chin and it didn't faze Valuev.
