    Khan vs Peterson question.

It was a good fight, which I still feel Khan won, but I'm curious about something. He was the star, he was the guy, and he should have had all the say in the negotiations. So why the hell did he decide to go to Washington to fight Lamont Peterson? I'm sure they could have got the fight somewhere else. Is there a reason he decided to fight in Petersons backyard?

Because he was trying to be an American star, and has overwhelming confidence in himself. He didn't think it mattered where he fought Peterson, he was going to knock him out.

Unfortunately, that confidence is also a part of his downfall.

I think Khan was popular enough to have it in Vegas. With an good undercard to accompany it, I think it would have sold well there.

I also know khan offered peterson the fight previously for significantly less than he got on fight night and the combination of peterson winning his tune up fight plus khan missing out on other possible opponents may have made him capitulate a bit. I agree with the us fan base point too.

as much as i cant stand khan i gotta admitt he never ran from a challenge. he was confident going in, assumed he would win and just wanted to do it in style and make a statement. never fought in that part of the country before, very big market for boxing that was being untapped so far. GBP knew big numbers was their best way to get khan a mayweather fight and putting on a showcase performance in DC would be a big step towards making khan a star in the states.

he had already alienated most of the UK market because he talks rubbish (talking about beating mayweather, how his asian heritage has hindered him) and is an all-round dochebag. the guys a walking PR disaster - so he thought maybe I;ll go to the US and start again.

              EPIC FAIL!!!

oh don't be fooled by HBO marketing. khan was trying his best to stay away from maidana before the WBA put his punk ass on lockdown. then HBO tried to say that beating he was taking in the 10th was what khan wanted.

who else he has fought since prescott besides maidana? pillow punchers, shot fighters, and dudes that barely sc****d by in their last fight that's who. i still get a chuckle at how much the peterson and garcia fights backfired.
