While I agree that he could actually be a force again, I just don't know whats going on with him now.

He seems to not have the desire to train like a mad man anymore, I used to be for his fighting at heavyweight, but now I really think that it's zapped the life out of him.

He needs to move back down, or he will be nothing, not even a blip on the radar.

V.J. is the cheapest sonofabitch i have ever seen in the ring.

punching in the back of the head is not an accident with him, it is part of the game plan.

i really think he should be banned from the sport.

Sorry to bring this thread back, but I just found it and wanted to comment.

That fight was insane, maybe the best cruiserweight fight ever. Jirov and Toney both fought balls out that night. I probably watch that fight once a week ever since I first caught the original broadcast. Hearing Manny Steward say, "HE BETTER TO A JULIO CESAR AND RUN ACROSS THE RING RIGHT AWAY!!!" never gets old.

I think it was a fight that Toney won a little more comfortably than people like to believe, although ever second of it was razor thin. I had Toney up 6-5 going into the 12th, but I was being generous because I gave Jirov one of the rounds I saw even. I SWEAR some people just put too much emphasis on aggressiveness...even if its not effective (as opposed to clean hard punching).

That culminating chopping left bodyshot that James laid on Jirov was disgusting. Jirov actually doubled over from it.

Another great thing is the guy in Toneys entourage that screams, "YESSSSSS!!!!" as soon as the decision is announced.

I also love how The Deuce is the first city he gives a shout out to.

this was back when my "former boy" jirov had an iron chin, a solid punch, a ton of heart, and enough tools to be a legitimate champ/contender.

but those days are gone now. hes nothing more than a punching bag at HW. even if he moves down to CW, his days as a top dog are unfortunatly gone.

No. Jirov will come back and will be hold a HW title in a year or two. He has never truly lost a fight.

                      never truely lost a fight?

he lost fair and square to toney.
you could make an arguement to say he beat mesi.
he was KOd by moorer, its kinda hard to argue that he wasnt when jirov couldnt even walk straight towards the ref.

if he couldnt beat a product like mesi, a has been like moorer, or a never was orlin norris, then that ought to give you a clue that maybe jirov just cant cut the mustard at HW.
