If Floyd really felt that he won, there was no reason to bring up excuses from the beginning to the end of that interview with Larry Merchant .......... but Floyd did! So the reason is that he felt that he got schooled by Castillo and had to make that excuse.

Same goes with his fans ..... they used it as an excuse in this thread and others on why he looked so lost in the ring. Again, Floyd's rounds won were only because Castillo started slow. Once Castillo got going, Floyd was lost!

You can't make an excuse when you win the fight. However you can critique yourself. But an excuse comes when you didn't do what you had expected to do. Floyd did what he expected to do. Always has. It may not be at the level he wanted, but the end result is ALWAYS the same. At the end of the day, Floyd displayed the will to win. The heart to win. He actually fought when injured. Pac didn't. That is the difference.

Remember this was a very young, 25 years of age Floyd that went into this fight injured and came out victorious. Going against, a then in prime, 29 year old champion.

Not only did Floyd showcase heart, skills, the will to win and fighting through adversity, but he also showcased how to dig deep and man up. Even as a young kid in the boxing game.
