Gimme predictions and reasoning. I think all these fights would be awesome.
Assuming Martinez makes 154 without deteriorating:
vs. Canelo = Martinez via TKO9
vs. Cotto = Martinez via TKO11
vs. Mayweather = Floyd via SD
vs. Golovkin = Martinez via close UD
Martinez's reach and southpaw stance will be an issue for all these guys. Their endurance/stamina/heart will get tested. Floyd is the most defensively responsible, so he stands the best chance of going 12. Golovkin has the best chance of stopping Martinez. Canelo/Cotto's lack of head movement will leave them vulnerable in the championship rounds when Sergio tends to get switch to a higher gear.
you don't think Canelo is better than Chavez Jr? Imo he is much more technically sound. Actually uses his jab pretty well, more compact punches, and just better overall. I think Martinez would beat him but it would be a lot better fight than against JR imo.
No way. Chavez jr is the better fighter hands down. Sure ginger uses a good jab, I guess. He does throw shorter punches too. That however are the only advantages he has.
Chavez is the better fighter with the better resume. The jury is out & probably will be for some tie on just how good ginger is. Beating Josesito while getting hit a lot from a guy 2 divisions smaller doesn't tell me a thing.
Sergio beats them all, in fact only one may even have the balls to get in the ring with Sergio and that man being Golovkin.
Floyd won't go within a thousand miles of Sergio.
Ginger****e is contempt on fighting 140lb B levelers.
Cotto wouldn't want his career ended & frankly I wouldn't blame him for taking more money with less risk involved.
And seeing Golovkin hasn't fought anybody, i'll go with the more proven guy who isn't contempt on eating powershots like Smarties to get his own off.
Canelo @ 154 or 160 lbs (Sergio stops Canelo late or Canelo wins a decision)
I think people continue to underestimate Canelo. His skillset is VERY good and he is very tough and strong. I think he can beat Sergio on the cards or Sergio possibly stops if he can connect enough. This may be more evenly matched than people think to be honest.
Cotto @ 154 lbs (Sergio stops Cotto in mid/late rounds)
This one is EASY, Sergio stops Cotto, no other outcome. No way Cotto can win via decision and Cotto's chin and face won't hold up and he will be stopped. Respect to Cotto but no way he can last 12 rounds against Sergio and no way he can stop or hurt Sergio.
GGG @ 160 lbs (GGG wins decision or stops Sergio)
This one is TOUGH. I know GGG has proven himself enough yet but I will go with GGG by decision. I think he has the chin to deal with Sergio and the power and skills to worry Sergio. I think he may even be able to stop Sergio. I actually think GGG wins this one either way.
Mayweather @ 154 lbs (Floyd wins by decision or Sergio stops Floyd late)
I think Sergio by stoppage because I really don't think anyone can win a decision over Floyd because he is too skilled, makes great adjustments and is too seasoned. If Sergio cannot KO Floyd, he loses a decision. Also there is no way Floyd is stopping Sergio so he can only win via decision or he gets stopped. I just think Floyd is too small to really hang with Sergio probably.

Agreed that Chavez has a better resume, but not by much really. Canelo's skills appear to be growing every fight, even if he always has a big advantage (fighting old guys like mosley, or small ones like josesito). But still, he dominates in these fights, even if he gets hit, it doesn't throw him off his game, he stays in control.
I dunno, you are right that we can't conclude much til he faces some elite 154 lbers, but just watching him I think there is no doubt he would have put up a much better fight against Serg than JR did

All great match-ups.
Nice analysis, I agree fully with it all. Except I think Canelo would last all 12.

I don't think Canelo will hit the canvas, but I think he's gonna get cut on top of the eye (like he did against Mosley). I think Canelo will be cut by the 6th, and Martinez would work that eye over in rounds 7/8/9. Canelo wouldn't come out for round 10.

Martinez tko canelo 11 - can't see it happening any other way. Canelo won't have an answer for Martinez power and speed and movement. He won't be able to walk through Martinez shots like he been doing with jww's and ww's. He'll spend the fight covering up and when he gets desperate in the championship rounds he'll get caught and stopped.
Martinez ud Cotto- Martinez will outwork Cotto but Cotto has learned to cover up pretty well. Cotto gets outworked but doesn't lose discipline enough to get ko'd.
Martinez ko GGG 11- just like all the other flavor of the months, GGG is highly overrated. I see him utilizing his extensive amateur background and heavy hands to keep Martinez honest, maybe even scoring an off balance kd. but Maravilla's championship caliber is displayed in the championship rounds and GGG is taken into deeper waters than he knows and drowned.
Floyd sd Martinez - in a chess match war, these two ebb and flow.. Martinez outworking, but Floyd defending well and countering. We'll see a bit of a jab competition and Floyd will be extra careful of Serg's left hand. A classic unfolds as neither man fades as the fight goes on but gets better. Serg more intense and crisp and Floyd gradually smarter. Ring smarts (and popularity) win Floyd a hotly debated SD. Floyd retires shortly after the most punishing challenging fight of his career.
