  • As a Mexican, It would be a pathetic fight, and I hope Canelo doesn't take this. Though it won't matter to most his mexican fans, they'll eat that s hit up, and that's why I think he will take this fight.

are casuals / boxing fans that you're familiar with OK with canelo's matchmaking ?

i'd be interested to know how you'd characterize his fanbase, too.

mostly boxing people? casuals? women / families ?

Nobody is above criticism, and I can certainly understand why people don't like his opposition, that is a fair criticism.

Honestly I don't even really root for Canelo I just think he is a very good fighter and I do stand by that assessment of him, although I will probably find myself rooting for him in the future. While I understand the criticism I just don't think that says all that much about him as a fighter, I will admit I could be wrong because it is an unknown.

i belive if this fight gets made it would do incredibly well in the ratings. that being said i do find it very interesting a match between maidana vs canelo. To the people who just want to see this kid get thrown to the lions, why? hes barely 22 look at his resume, im sure by the time hes 30 hell have an amazing career. i say hes good for the sport and makes fights exciting, to the haters go cry about mayweathers cherrypicking or bob and pac ultimte matchmakings........

That is true he has a lot of career left to fight challenging fights, that is one reason why I don't stress him that much. Personally I think Canelo wrecks Maidana and don't find it overly appealing although it will probably be fun to watch.

I don't know what the future holds but I am patient so I am willing to wait and see how it plays out for Canelo.

I would say all the guys you listed are in fact good for the sport because they spur discussion and they are guys that people feel strongly about one way or the other so they want to watch either to see a guy win or get his ass beat, but either way they are still engrossed in the sport. Plus it would be boring if everyone felt the same about fighters, and there would be no market for ********.

this fight would a joke and further provs that canelo is a protected hypejob. Wilfred benitez became champion at 17 and fought real competion since. Hell, he fought ray leonard when he was 21. So dont give me that "oh hes only 22" bull****. He holds the wbc belt (which at this point dont mean ****) so he should be fighting actual 154 contenders period. As it stands hes the worst "champ" in boxing.

The age excuse is no longer valid because he's a titlist. Guys like Russell Jr. and Dulorme fit the bill of a prospect, not Canelo. GBP is bringing him along as a protected commodity, as if the 2nd-tier fighters are not worthy enough to get in the ring with him. WBC also plays along by sanctioning Canelo/Hatton at a catch-weight for their LMW belt. Guys like Josesito and Maidana are just pawns that allow this game to happen. You can't really blame them either cuz they gotta eat too, and if they can get a big pay-day to move up in weight, they will do so.

The game will finally stop once Mayweather/Canelo happens.

              • The ****? Canelo needs to fight someone decent @ 154.

He would stop Maidana within 6.

Canelo did fight Rhodes who was a top 10 JRMW. And Chavez Jr uses diuretics to fight smaller guys in their division instead of bringing them up. Same ****, different toilet.

I've heard every 2nd-tier opponent get shitted on to justify GBP's match-making, and to also say why Canelo should be Mayweather's next opponent.
I know you're talking about me. Only reason I brought up Rigo's resume is because I see a lot of his fans criticizing Canelo's opposition even though it's still miles better than Rigo's. Just exposing the hypocrisy that's all.

Whats your thoughts on Marcos "El Chino" Maidana vs. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez

Apparently Oscar asked "The Ring" to tweet this.
This is the exact path Manny and Floyd have been taking and both of their fan bases have ate it up.

                    Why wouldn't Goldenboy do this?

I say Goldenboy milk this ****, there's no reason why they shouldn't play to Canelo's strength when Manny and Mayweather do the same exact thing.

Make the fight, the Mexican fans will support it, the Americans will run their mouths, and after there is no one else, go on to the Cotto, Angulo, and Kirkland in that exact order.

With that experience take on Lara's and you have Vanes out there still right?

Don't ask, just do it. Play to the strengths. No one else plays the sport with morality, why should Canelo be the only one subject to the moral route in boxing?

And honestly thats a solid route for a fighter. Maidana isn't exactly a ***** made.

Really just boxing casuals. I mean they don't watch every fight, and aren't boxrec guys like people in this site are, they don't know about weight, and Televisa doesn't tell them about it. They don't know Canelo been bringing guys up from 140, 147.

It's sad, but like I said, only hardcore boxing fans know about this, casuals fans are "protected" from what Canelo has been doing.
