  • Thatd be funny if Maidana won.

My biggest problem would be the shape Maidana could be in on fight night. Against Devon, he looked soft. He looks more settled in his weight at 147 now though. If he gonna fight at 154 he needs a tuneup fight first to have a prayer against Canelo.

P4p though I think Maidana could knock Canelo senseless. Wasn't canelo stunned by Jose Cotto?

Some people need stuff pointed out to them very clearly in detail and won't accept something until that threshold is met, which is fine.

Now other people can see it completely the other way where they see how a guy fights, how he moves and just realize that guy is pretty good and that his abilities will scale. Lots of people don't like this sort of analysis because it is is not a quantitative argument thus not easy to prove, thus it is very hard to argue with a person because it is all opinion but that is a valid way to look at fighters also.

Judging what fighters are capable of is just as much an art as it is a science and there is no perfect way to do it.

As for Canelo he should fight better guys but that doesn't really effect what I think he can do as a fighter. to be quite honest I like when most people don't like the fighters I like, it means better odds for me~ liking what the crowd likes is not a way to gamble and make money.
Gambler, you're different though. You root for Canelo and appreciate his potential, you'll say something like "it's not his fault", you accept the reality of the situation and then move on. On the other hand, you got some fans that will act like his public defender, and they begin to tear down other fighters' resumes/performances in order to shield Canelo from any criticism. I've heard every 2nd-tier opponent get shitted on to justify GBP's match-making, and to also say why Canelo should be Mayweather's next opponent.

        • lol another Light Welterweight? GBP is making it pretty obvious that even they don't believe in Canelo all that much, they continue to PROTECT and Cherry Pick for him

but all that means is that once he does finally get some balls to fight top fighters in his Division he will get his A$$ EXPOSED just like Chavez Jr...hell just like his BOSS Oscar De Lay Hoya who Bob Arum did the exact say thing with and Oscar lost just about all of his BIG FIGHTS most of his career

he was 19 years old. in my estimation i'd say canelo's chin is solid.

maidana's punches aren't anywhere near the dynamite they are at 140, even at 147. he won't put a dent in canelos chin at 154 with single shots. you saw how well soto karass took his gas. if he somehow pulls this one out of the hat it will be after an extended barrage of shots over many rounds.

Now that is sheer nonsense. We don't yet know how Canelo can take the punch of a full fledged dangerous jr middle. We don't know Canelo's heart as a fighter. We have barely seen him struggle through adversity.. And when he did, it was against subpar competition. His caliber as a champion is in question, regardless of hiss skills or potential. Judah has skills too. So does Khan. With Judah he has a heart problem, with Khan, a weak chin.

We don't know these things about Canelo. Only that he was stunned against the world beater Jose.

I was thinking more along the lines of Onechance and angel915. There are more, but these are main that just don't make sense.
I think the guy in my sig is one of them.

the ability to think in this manner comes with the fact that he was here before canelo alvarez, and he'll be here after he's done

fanboys havn't been there yet. they think only of the next fight. they blame alvarez for all of this, when anybody who knows a damn thing about boxing or the industry knows that GBP is where your beef should lie.

canelo is toting the party line, the same way any of you guys would be doing if you were in his shoes.

I do that with a lot of fighters just how I look at the game. I know there are people who defend him a lot more vigorously than I though.

Nobody is above criticism, and I can certainly understand why people don't like his opposition, that is a fair criticism.

Honestly I don't even really root for Canelo I just think he is a very good fighter and I do stand by that assessment of him, although I will probably find myself rooting for him in the future. While I understand the criticism I just don't think that says all that much about him as a fighter, I will admit I could be wrong because it is an unknown.
