make as much money as possible while taking the least amount of risk.

bide their time and take a shot at floyd mayweather. ideally they want to wait until floyd has deteriorated. i'm pretty confident that they're aware that alvarez doesnt have any real shot at beating him right now. he'd have to really fall off the deep end.

until then they want to keep canelo in crowd pleasing fights that will attract a casual audience.

Floyd is the hunted, the prey. It's weird as he's never been in such a vulnerable position. Getting older and gradually losing interest for fighting, he might be ripe for the picking. Got my fingers crossed that they fight in May 2013. Floyd said he won't be fighting after 38, so they don't have much time left.

I get that, but their match making has been ridiculous and unforgivable lately (assuming they go with Maidana). It's pretty sad when most of would be happy with a Canelo-Quintana fight at this point, better than him fighter another smaller fighter.

Nah the people who call Canelo the worst champ in boxing are taking the low road. He ain't even the worst champ in his division, that's K9. I didn't wanna bash Rigo but I see a lot of people who talk about him like he's a god and then criticize Canelo's opposition. Don't throw stones if you live in a glass house.

That seems to be the plan but then why were they ready to match him against Williams? That matchup was incomprehensible.

Canelo is definitely not the worst champ in boxing, i mean even with his opponent choice lately, theres some eurobum out there clinging on to a belt for dear life. so yes, u are correct on that. but he fights maidana, theres absolutely no way u can defend that ****.

as far as williams, i think they thought he was done honestly.

This is the issue. GBP is never going to make a fight to please any of the folks on here, not even the most casual of NSBers.

This is where sanctioning bodies need to step in, forcing "champions" to fight "champions," or hell at least fighters in their weight class. If not, then force them to vacate. Shame that most of the alphabet organizations are run with the same kind of corruption and idiocy.

No lie, for a moment, I actually forgot what weight class Canelo is (supposedly) in. JCC Jr and Canelo, two protected, paper champs fighting fighters smaller them LOL. Maybe Canelo should "move down" to junior welter and bloat up like JCC Jr does. In light of the Lopez fight, Canelo makes JCC Jr look like a champ.

Is this some 25-0 light middleweight prospect from spain that I never heard of?

Or is this the Maidana that I am thinking about, the one that just moved up from 140 not that long ago?

I'm not defending the fight, I said several times that it's a crap fight. Only thing that makes it easier to swallow is the fact that he'll probably fight Cotto in May. Cotto seems interested, I'm sure they're negotiating behind the scenes.

Williams got beat up by Lara but stylewise Lara and Canelo are worlds apart. The golden boy matchmaker had to see that. That would have been a punishing fight for Canelo, even tougher than a Cotto fight IMO and with litte reward.
