Then you don't know boxing. If you take a look at a thread that I posted on PBF first 25 vs Cotto's first 25 you will see that the win percentage of the opponents is much higher in cotto's resume, also the KO percentage of his opponents records is also significantly higher. Mayweather is known to fight bums. Cotto has fought Bailey, Pinto, COrley, Abdulaev, Ndou,Sosa, Bazan, Jukko. Oh and all by KO or TKO except for Ndou. This is a prep fight for a 06 superfight so calm down. Plus, who would he fight anyway? Cant fight Hatton, has to wait for Castillo to KO Corrales, again, who could he fight? Why should he fight 2 top contenders right after eachother anyway? That would not be smart management. This fight will be a prep fight for a PPV that Arum is planning Cotto to headline, most likely against Castillo.

December 18, 2005 - Moments ago Top Rank chief Bob Arum informed butt-talk.vomit.com that undefeated WBO junior welterweight champion Miguel Cotto will return to the ring on March 4. According to Arum, Cotto will likely face former lightweight champion Raul Balbi in front of what is sure to be a sold out crown in Puerto Rico. There will be more to follow including a full interview with Arum so stay tuned.

I agree about this fight being a joke, but we differ on the bit about Cotto fighting bums in the past.

Almost anyone else. It would have been nice to seem him against Witter. Punch that before Hatton does.

I agree, would rather stay active than wait around for the big fights, but yeah all the top-dawgs need to start steppin' it up.

randall bailey lost to ishe smith
cotto beat corley, sosa and jukko after floyd thoroughy dominated them

his resume is decent, but nothing special
to compare it to floyds goes to show that you are biased and unknowledgable about fighters from 98-2000. floyd fought a bunch of legit contenders and his resume in his first 25 is far better than cottos
you must have no idea who genare hernandez is. floyd fought him in 98, after he had been a champion since 91. he had won 38 fights and lost one, and that was to oscar de la hoya . floyd went in and beat the living hell out of the champ and the corner stopped the fight. hernandez never fought again after that fight.
i should also probably bring up a beating (or shouldn i say asskicking)of a prime angel manfredy, a damn good fighter who stopped gatti a few fights beforehand. floyd stopped this guy in two and messed up his whole career. this debate is just ******, becuase there is no comparison, and if you think there is, your bias is getting the better of you

floyd also stepped up to the plate to fight for a legit title before cotto, even though cotto was the one with the padded record who was given the chances floyd had to work for

so i just checked this balbi guy, and he has ONE fight in the us, mostly all of them, with the exception of five have been in argentina and he still managed to rack up seven losses.
this guys biggest accomplishment is that he lost two close fights to leonard dorian, the guy who gatti ko'd in two.

PBF's resume was nothing special at 25 fights. Hernandez was destroyed by DelaHoya. And hernandez, was not considered a "champ" or even "good contender", who has he beat? Anyway, you seem to tell everyone that they are bias in this thread, maybe its you not them?
