i just hope that whoever gives him a license to fight makes sure that he is in good health through and through. because a couple of shots to the back of the head could be the end for Mesi if he isnt careful. it just seems kind of crazy to give him clearance to fight after the death of Leavnder johnson, since Mesi had a brain injury. it's Mesi's life so i wish him the best, and hope he continues on with good health....any fighter for that reason....
Joe Mesi cleared to return to ring!

I think this is good news. Boxers know the risks and rewards of being a professional fighter. This is what Mesi loves to do and it is his life. I think he would rather risk dieing in the ring then to go through life never knowing how good he could be. It's a risk every fighter takes to be champion. Good luck Joe!Comment

So it boiled down to technicality. The court ruled that his suspension expired with his license, how then could he re-apply for his license? Maybe in some other states but not in Nevada.
But DAMN, I'm afraid that this guy is going to get hurt. He is slow and had a poor defense. If he cross path with Skelton, Williams and Tony I can see him going back to the hospital.Last edited by psychopath; 12-19-2005, 06:26 PM.Comment

As a huge Mesi fan I am the first to admit I am happy. I am also the first to admit that he is not the best in the division right now. But he has a HUGE punch and with that has a shot against anyone.
I still don't understand the people on this site that rag on Mesi but have NO problem with Barrara. When Barrara's injury was far worse and even required surgery. Its just seems odd to me.Comment

He should fight Byrd if he wants to live. He had bleeding on the brain in a fight with Jirov who is no stone-fisted warrior either. (Imagine if he fights someone of average punching power or hard punching power, Like Peter) If Jirov had another round in their fight Mesi would be sitting in a wheelchair looking out into the field and being sppon fed by a nurse who cannot get him to respond to her hand motions even though she tries. Fighting again is foolish on his part and we have already had two deaths this year. I guess the in a while some mortician out there will have another payday soon.Comment

kill whitey!
but seriously folks..I hope Mesi stays healthy. It will be hard to watch him. It was hard enough to watch him before, now it will be near impossible for me.
Hope he knows what he is doing..good luck to himComment

Originally posted by GasPedAgreed, except for the part about being happy for him. Bleeding on the brain is very serious stuff, and I can't be happy for anyone who wants to put himself at risk again after that. Just like I'm sad whenever I see Holyfield talking about coming back. Fighters are the worst for letting their egos beatdown their common sense - until they've got no sense left at all.
But give him some credit - somehow he managed to get his suspension lifted on a technical loophole...
he'll never be the same after that beatdown jirov gave him at the end of their fight. i really, really, really, don't think this is a good idea, if sloppy joe messy faces a big puncher he could be really ****ed up for life of even killed. some guys ( holyfield ) have to learn how to let go, he can always coach, become a trainer while he's still got brain leftComment
