I was and still am enticed by the match-up, but if Rigo can only fight one guy, I'd rather it be Terrazas or Poonsawat. I'll almost always choose the guy coming off wins and guys who are established at the weight over those who have greater name-value. I'd take Vic over Agbeko too.

Man you're hilarious, no matter how hard you try you're not gonna save face on this one. Just scroll up and look at your quotes, you said Rigo needs to fight Agbeko to make a statement and get closer to a Donaire shot, you said there's NO REASON for Rigo not to fight Agbeko and you'll be pissed if the fight doesn't happen. I didn't do nothing, you owned yourself.

You should read before you post.

Your bump would've made more sense if Rigo didn't fight Agbeko and went on to fight some 5-4-2 guy like Donaire in his 12th fight.

Like I said, Agbeko was the one calling out Rigo not Poon but Poon took the fight instead so what's the problem? Agbeko more name value, Poon more established. What's the problem and why does it matter which one he fights?

There's no need for Rigo to avoid Agbeko. The whole high risk/low reward thing doesn't apply here cause Rigo is high risk/low reward himself and anybody he fights or has fought is low reward.

It was hardly a "thorough domination." Not fighting people coming off losses is Mayweather ducking talk. (Pacquiao lost to Bradley!)

I don't think Rigo should fight anyone who's coming off a loss, so that takes Mathebula/Nishioka/Agbeko out of the picture. He also shouldn't fight anyone who's arguably faded/shot. That would eliminate Arce/Montiel/Marquez/Mijares. I also believe that he shouldn't fight someone that Nonito has fought recently, so Vasquez Jr. is removed.

Who's left: Darchinyan and Poonsawat. Add Terrazas, the winner of Quigg/Munroe, and you have a good list of future opponents for Rigo. I'm pretty sure Team Rigo won't go this route because they are looking for name-value.

I expect Rigo/Montiel in November, followed by a mandatory defense against Quigg/Munroe and maybe a fight with Darchinyan (assuming that he continues to win) right after that.

I said this on the 17th, and I still agree with what I said. I'm happy that Team Rigo went this route because I really didn't expect it. Agbeko shouldn't be on the radar when there's other viable SBWs to fight. I dislike when guys coming off losses get the easy road to a title shot instead of having to climb back up the mountain. Why can't Agbeko have a fight @122 first to make himself relevant again?

What hard road did Poon have to climb after his Lee loss? He fought a bunch of guys with terrible records since then. When top fighters fight top fighters, someone has to lose. That's what happen when you take a risks. It doesn't automatically make them less deserving. If Agbeko had loss to a bum, then I'd get what you're saying, but he loss to freaken Mares. If Mayweather and Pacquiao fought each other, are you saying the loser needs to climb a mountain before getting another title shot? Did you also hate that Martinez got a title shot after losing to Williams?

Agbeko and Poonswat are good fights for Rigo. Winning either fight puts him in a better position for a Donaire matchup. I would prefer he fight on this occasion simply because Agbeko has gone 1-3 in his last 4 bouts. Poon may not have the likes of Mares, Darchinyan, or even Perez on his resume but he has continued to win and should be riding a wave of confidence against Rigo.

Mayweather/Pac have already reached the "elite" plane, Pac/Mayweather isn't just another case of the top fighters in a division fighting each other. It's the "elite" guys fighting each another. The top 2 guys in the entire sport (arguably) just so happen to be in the same division at the same time. The match-up has a lot of significance attached to it, historically and monetarily.

I wasn't following MW during that time, but I probably would've been on here complaining about him getting another title shot lol. However, what's different in the situations is the fact that Martinez stayed at MW. Agbeko wants to go to 122 after losing to the top at 118, fuck up the flow/balance and skip to the front of the line. What about the winner of Quigg/Munroe or Poonsawat, fighters who've been putting work @122, guys who are actually on the WBA rankings? Ideally, the sanctioning bodies are supposed to represent equal opportunity. IDK where Sergio was in the WBC/WBO rankings at that time, or how shallow the division was, or why he was allowed to get another title shot right after. Him getting a title shot probably means that someone got pushed to the side. Martinez was 44-2, so the WBC/WBO probably figured, "What the hell, he's entertaining and experienced, so give him another shot". Rankings aren't always worth going by and are sometimes very flawed, but it's always something to take into consideration when brainstorming about potential match-ups.

Rigo has a sufficient amount of opponents right now. Agbeko doesn't need to be and shouldn't be a top priority.

Good fight but Agbeko is very wild and sloppy most of the time, those are poor attributes to have against Rigondeaux so I think Rogondeaux would take care of him without that much difficulty.
