The amazing thing is his kick is faster than a lot of people's jabs. I think he could do very well in K1, pride, or UFC. Consider Kaoklai, a muay thai kickboxing champion weighing around 175 pounds, was able to defeat much bigger fighters. I think one was around 250 pounds (won by awesome flying round house to the head, KO), and another guy was over 300 pounds and 7 feet or something like that (won by split decision, close fight). When he was facing the 7 ft guy, he dodged a fast kick by doing a matrix-like move. In speed/reflexes vs. power, speed/reflexes usually wins.

Duran has dealt with great punchers, but never a great kicker. Bruce Lee won't knock Duran out he'll kill 'em. Believe me kid when a sidekick connects it's about the worst thing to get caught with. Hell a lesser talented kicker but a solid one will KTFO Duran. C'mon man haven't you heard it a million times by now... Styles make fights. Duran's tenacity will be his own enemy, I can just picture it. Lee's gonna give some space let him come and "whap" you'll hear Duran's neck snap!Originally posted by Kid AchillesIt wasn't sped up, it does look impressive, but it doesn't mean much. Those slaps and backhands are techniques tailored for speed. He is not throwing punches with full bodyweight behind them, just twisting a little at the waist.
The animal with the fastest strike in the animal kingdom is the mantis shrimp. At 6-12" these little beasties are so quick and powerful with their strikes that the ocean water boils around them when they attack. A mantis shrimp the size of a man would have the force of a battleship's main gun behind his punch. It would be like something out of DBZ. P4P, no other creature on this planet has that kind of speed and power.
Yet they are not the size of a human, and at 6" I can squash one beneath my foot with a good stomp. Just like Tyson, Ali, Dempsey, Louis etc. would obliterate Lee with one punch. If handspeed alone was enough to win fights, Manny Pacquaio could up to heavyweight and clean house. Lee was a little guy who looked soft at 150 lbs. His best weight was around 130-135. He's a lightweight, and I suspect not even as powerful as Roberto Duran. In fact, in a mythical streetfight between the two, I would put my money on Duran, who had many recorded fights in the ring and many bloody streetfights outside of it.
Lee would have his hands full with the great lightweights in history, let alone the heavyweights. He was an actor first, a martial artist second. He did change the way many martial artists thought about tradition and the concept of style, but that does not translate to him beating Mike Tyson.Last edited by rsl; 12-20-2005, 10:24 PM.Comment

did u hear of that story of lee. its true. bruce lee for some reason was gona fight some guy, cany remmeber his name in his dojo. the guy was jui-jisu black belt. the guy went for a take down and lee had thrown a side kick which landed but the grappler grabbed lee in headlock and it was over, lee taped, from that day on, lee trained in grappling and he reached blue belt by the time he diedComment

=======the guy was jui-jisu black belt. ==========
** I think you're referring to Gene LaBelle, Hollywood stunt guy, 'rassler, and juijitsu artist and legend. He's taken down a number of legends and tough guys, basically choking them out on the set when they got too big for their britches.Comment

You need to open up a book or do some research first ******.
Gene Labelle never got Lee in a headlock. They were joking around but he picked him up and Lee said something along the lines of 'When you put me down, I'm going to kill you'. Gene said 'Hah thats why I'm not going to put you down'. I don't remember how it ended but those are the facts.
You're the 'owned' one *****.Comment

I saw that clip on a documentary about him on TLC. The narrator said that during the filming of "The Green Hornet", they asked Bruce to slow down coz his freakin' legs and arms disappeared from the frame. 24 frames per second and in some shots, his arm was just seen initiating the move and in the next frame, it was moving back. Completely missed the reach of his punch.
Director was concerned the viewers would think they sped up the camera.
Um...that's just crazy.
Also, one of the American actor in the set of "Enter the Dragon", said one of the Chinese extras said something to Bruce which pissed him off. He told the guy to come towards him. They were about to fight obviously. He said Bruce's punch was so fast, the fight was over with one punch.
Hey, that's what he said. Perhaps he was patronizing his idol. I dunno. Too many similar testimonies about Bruce's speed to just brush it off as just exagerating.Comment
