  • Will Floyd end up like Roy Jones?

Fighting has been in his blood since he was born, he may act now like he is getting tired of it and so on but Roy did the exact same thing with that basketball bull**** and constant talking of retirement, now he just can't give it up.

Floyd craves fighting and the limelight as much as Roy and will find it hard to give up, anyone agree?

Might end up fighting well past his prime.

As long as FM don't do a yo-yo with his weight and go up to SMW or LHW then dropped back down in 3-6 months to his current fight weight he will be fine. That's the real reason why RJJ fell he destroyed himself at that age.

Regardless what FM says he always puts 110% in the gym no matter who he is fighting. Old age might catch up to him but I am sure he got a few more years at top level if he fights on a regular basis.

Roy Jones depended on his athleticism and reflexes. He was never the most techinically sound fighter in the game. His style just didn't age well. It didn't help that, at age 35 he went from heavyweight to light heavyweight. Losing all that muscle affected his power and reflexes and he was never the same after the Ruiz fight.

Floyd is a defensive wizard whose style as aged extremely well. He doesn't rely as much on his legs and natural athleticism as he did in the lower weight classes. Plus he hasn't taken much punishment throughout is career, and fights only once or at most twice a year. He's a young 35 and I think he be a much more effective fighter than Roy into his late 30s/early 40s if he wanted to.

But from his recent interviews it sounds like he wants to focus more on his promotional venture rather than his boxing career.

        nein!

Floyd could be like a bernard hopkins if he wanted to. Why? cause his fundamentals are always going to be there. Once Roy's reflexes started slipping a bit he was done. Floyd IS a bit slower now and doesn't move around as much as he did, but he can still dominate because his game is so tight and solid, much like Hopkins.

he won't be quite as bad as roy, i'm sure, but i can definitely see him continuing to fight until he loses a couple of times.

He might keep fighting late but unlike Roy and much like Hopkins Floyd will have his fundamentals and defense to fall back on when he loses his reflexes and athleticism.

Hes an addicted gambler ofcourse he will continue to fight.

I see alot of people saying RJJ doesn't have fundamentals this is not correct. RJJ was taught by his Father every aspect of the boxing game. You can tell when he does his commentary work that he knows boxing inside and out. RJJ just chose not to go that route once his career started to peaked with that style.

He's too old now and stuck in his old ways for the most part. He tried to get new trainer now but he's inconsistent; one fight he would change some things and improve his defense next fight revert back. Hopefully he will get one more win convincingly and call it a day.
