Not sure about all this Mitchell deserves this and that, other than John Murray who we know is European level he hasnt got any one of note on his record.

To me he hasnt even earnt this fight, Burns will show him whos's boss as he's the one who agreed to it, put him in his place then its back to the begining for Mitchell and Im not sure he's up for that.

Prescott is a very underrated fighter who holds a K.O victory over Khan and a close SD win over Richard Abril. He was robbed vs McCloskey
He took an extremely solid world champion in Vazquez all the way and even had him on the deck.
He was giving Alvarado a boxing lesson until he gassed.

Prescott is a very good fighter and a very good name to have on your resume. Only world class fighters get passed him legitimately.

Though I feel Prescott was drained at 135, I can not deny the excellence of Mitchell that night who boxed perfectly to a great gameplan.

No one has beaten Prescott more impressively than what Mitchell did. McCloskey, Alvarado and Vazquez being the only other people Prescott has lost too. He's a lot closer to world level then what Murray is, Mendoza is etc... Infact, the only person who's a better name on Mitchell's resume is Kats and that was a 3 rd demolition loss.

He's won of Mitchell's best wins.

IMO beating Prescott doesnt put him in line for a World title shot...just saying.

                  No.

But that didn't get him the shot, beating a domestic level fighter in John Murray did. The winner of that fight would go on to meet Burns in a ' battle of Britain ', Mitchell earns his shot by his nationality.

This is not to say he's completely undeserving, he's proven his worth.

TBF, who did Ricky beat to earn his world title shot? Before his world title shot he beat Al Hamidi who had a record of 6-26...

Taking the '0' from John Murray is more deserving than adding loss number 27 to Himidi.

Yeah, he's proven his worth at domestic level!
