This is one of the few times I actually would like to see a catch weight fight. I think these are the 2 best pound for pound fighters in the sport right now (I'm not including Floyd or Pac at this point because neither are real fighters anymore). The weight just doesn't work well for either though. I don't think Ward can make 60, and I don't think Martinez can handle 68. Make the fight at 64. My big problem with Pac's catch weight fights were that he was only doing it to try to gain advantages. This is one where both concede and would be relatively fair to both guys. I don't think it happens, but I'd love to see it.

I do not see why there are some trying to get Martinez to move up or down. He is at the age where he should not bounce around. Also, he has plenty of good fights on the horizon. The middleweight division is just getting good and stacked again. Why abandon it?
Martinez should stay at 160, forget about the Cotto's and Mayweather's of the world and make his place as the middleweight champion. He no longer has to chase after fights. He is now one of the go to men. He can make lots of history and money by staying put.
If i had to guess, id say that is martinez' mindset.Comment

No what Ward meant to say was: I would get in that ass like Nikki Minaj plastic surgeon! If skinny ass Trinidad was able to go from welter to super m/w then so could Martinez. Leonard finished at light heavy he's no bigger then Sergio. The list goes on. The diff was those dudes wanted to be GREAT size aint matter. Sergio people knows Ward aint to be played with. Didn't he fight a cruiser on Sat? Lol Let Chavez been at smw Martinez would of had no problem with that! C'mon let's keep it a c-note!Comment

I think Martinez's style would be compromised at a higher weight. It's not that he can't physically make it, it's that his game plan would probably have to be altered in a way that might be too drastic at this point in his (or any fighter's) career.
On the flip side, I think Ward's style would be fine at a lower weight (but perhaps not all the way down to 160). 164 is the most reasonable idea, but I still don't see it happening.Comment

Sugar Ray fought the ATG Donnie Lelonde at light heavy or was it at Super middle? No, I am sure it was light heavy. No, maybe it was at super middle? Or was it both at the same time? I am so confused.Comment

He started at 147, spent most of his career at 154 and da guy was stuffing his face wit tbone steaks a week away from dis fight just to maintain da weight. Da guy is 2 divisions north of where he began, I tinks it's about time for otha people to start making some sacrifices if dey wants to fight him.Comment

This myth has been debunked already. He was 176 lbs 30 days before the fight. Compare that to Canelo who was 167 lbs 30 days before his fight. Martinez is a regular sized middleweight.
If I remember well, Ward did talk about a possible fight at 164 or 165 but Dibella and Lewkovicz killed that shit real quick.
Yeah ironically Chavez Jr is bigger than Ward.
At 168, he would look like dat Jeff Lacy guy and be slow as molasses because of da extra 10 pounds of muscle he would have to pack on to not be a tub of lard in da ring.Comment

why not fight at a catchweight ?
Chad Dawson moved down 7 pounds to fight Ward at 168, so why can't Ward move down4 pounds and fight MArtinez at a catchweight of 164 ?Comment
