Vitali got a cut and continued to get caught over and over again which opened more cuts, he couldn't stop the damage happening so it had to be stopped for him. It's the same reason they stop fights when fighters are outclassed and taking a beating, to stop them having permanent damage.

I always argued that it WASN'T supposed to be an LL win or a Klitschko loss as that's just plain wrong..... LL didn't really win that night & Vitali din't really lose... a technical draw is actually the right diagnosis as it was inconclusive. The fighter who won was getting more pummeled.. how is that right? He just looked prettier.. an opinion that someone is in more danger healthwise.. did anyone even take a look at Lennox after the fight? He received almost 60 more blows mostly to the head.. He could've been in even more dire straights but all the focus was on Vitali's condition so in this regrad i'll never accept that type of outcome... If Vitali was such a boxing master jimmy claims him to be he would have avoided the punches that opened the cuts instead of blocking them with his face.

Come on... that fight was nOT about avoiding .. both alltime greats couldn't miss that night.. it was abourt going mano to mano... toe to toe for bragging rights.. Vitali didn't have a chance to implement any of his great technique & this was because the SIZE & sKILL occupying the ring that night for both contestants.
