    Agreed.

Also new guy I've never made any serious assertion that Joe was better than RJJ. They are both great fighters. Joe was the greatest 168 lbs'er though. Real talk. RJJ had the better resume.

      Ill wait.

How about the fact that just FOUR months prior to the Roy figt, Toney fought and won by knockout.

How about the fact he struggled with his weight since his debut but managed to go 44-0 regardless of weight struggles.

But all the sudden he fights a prime RJ and the WEIGHT is the reason he lost.... Yeah ok, who is really making the excuses.... He fought a better fighter and a style that his flat footed shoulder rolling style couldnt deal with.

A Toney that didnt cut weight or drain himself doesnt exist except for HW Toney.

On Ruiz.... He was a top 5 HW.. And its not so much about Ruiz being a killer as it is about Roy coming from 154lbs... About Ruiz weighing upwards of 30lbs more than Roy, and the fact that Ruiz showed the power to knock down Evander Holyfield, and now Roy was about to risk being hit by those same punches... And he did take them.

If Roy was a career heavyweight, having ruiz on his resume would be whatever... Its the fact that he came from being MW champion, to fighting and beating a top five hw that makes the win very good.

Not too mention after putting the weight on, taking it off and fighting the new #1 LHW and winning, barely.. But gutting it out and winning.
all good points, but, the way he got starched, in 2 rounds in that rematch with tarver, puts him classes below the ali's, leonard's, robinson's, hagler's, hearns, etc...

Allen Iverson was a great athlete in his prime, think he could dominate the sport for fifteen years?

You think setting traps, using feints, timing, counterpunching, adapting, anticipating, understanding how and when to slip and block punches is all.......... Athletic qualities?

          Alright.
could not have said it better.....

Roy was an exceptional athlete and though he may have not been fundamentally disciplined like a Floyd Mayweather or Willie Pep, it doesn't take away from how dominant and effective he was, which at the end of the day is what counts in the ring.

History will remember him as one of the best fighters in history. Many fighters before him went on a down slope towards the end of their careers, yet we acknowledge their overall body of work which is how it should be viewed. Hell, guys like Ray Leonard, Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali went on longer than they probably should've, but I don't see many people ignoring their accolades and focusing on their losses in the twilight / end of their careers.
            Bottom Line.

                  Ok wtf

First off son the GOAT SRR fought at 160 and he would've ****d RJJ even when Ray was in his late 30s.

According to you RJJ was the best ever at mw, SMW, and lt heavy.

Wow the intelligence of some posters is getting lower and lower.

Prime Roy was one of the few boxers ever who were unbeatable in a certain weight class, that being super middle for Roy.

He arguably had the fastest hands ever.

He's just hung around too long and is starting to lose, like many of the ATGs.

I believe he's the greatest 168lb'er ever to fight in that division. At MW and Light Heavy, and even at Light Middle, I think he'd be in the top 10 at least to ever fight in those, but not the best.
