The undercard had absolutely nothing to do with the rating in this fight.

The same reason why Canelo loves to be on the undercard of certain PPVs.

Canelo had 3 fighters that had reasons to pull out (Pwill, Kirkland, Ortiz). Not his fault. Canelo will fight anybody. N Chavez jr was ducking serg for 2 years. Canelo aint ducking anybody n already has called floyd n cotto out

They spent around 3.5 million dollars on just the purses, and god knows how much on advertising. I've never seen a non ppv fight be advertise like this. Outside in Los Angeles, I don't think I saw a single ad for Chavez vs Martinez while I saw several for Canelo vs Lopez. Overall, they probably spend over 4 million on this fight.

Was it worth it for just 1 million viewers? Seems kind of weak to me.

Going up against Chavez v Martinez, Notre Dame v Michigan State, and Stanford v USC on Showtime not HBO. Plus Canelos only 22. Hes clearly the future hate him or not.

but how about canelo taking on fighters in his own division or higher, martinez just beat a huge chavez jr with KO power and chavez still FINALLY stepped up and got in the ring with him so thats that. i dont hate canelo like some people on here but it is annoying to see take these other fights, he should of wanted nothing to do with a lopez fight knowing the advantages he had in that fight. floyd, pac, and sergio have all took on challengers there size or bigger that could of beaten them (or have beat them in pac and sergios case) and thats why they are ranked where they are, cotto and floyd are of course a great start who has he beat to earn those shots?? lopez? mosley?? kermit??? when floyd comes back he wont wanna fight him and cotto seems interested so that could be official soon enough but he needs to start trying to prove himself instead of just fighting names with paydays, how about fighting 160er??

This is false. I am proof. I am part of the rating, and I DVR'd it for Maidana more than any other boxer on the card. And as luck (?) would have it, that was the best fight. So the undercard had PLENTY to do with it, buddy.

Good for boxing I wasn't paying attention to the Canelo fight since Martinez was already schooling chavesita but I did enjoy the madaina fight which was the best fight on the card and the only fight besides Martinez was the rocky fight with Beltran that was good
