I can't wait for Donaire/Nishi! Gonna be a war. Donaire needs to stop downplaying Rigo and Mares. I loved Nonito, but it really undermines the fans when he does that because Rigo and Mares are both great, popular, fun fighters to watch.

Nonito's mouth gets him in trouble, he says a lot of slick shit. I like watching him fight, but I'd rather hear him stay modest/humble. He's already in an advantageous position, he doesn't need to throw jabs at the guys "beneath" him.

mares needs to prove himself? he's a two time champion,fought tough challengers,will be facing a very slick,skilled boxer in november,where does he get that mares hasn't proved himself? mares and and anselmo will be fighting for the first time at 122,remember when mares fought morel,morel wanted a catchweight,so they did it only one pound above the bantamweight division,so this is really mares first fight at 122,let's see how both look,donaire really needs to step it up,to me nishioka got old fast,he didn't look that good against an aging marquez

Yeah, he's just playing politician. His approach reminds me of how JuanMa Lopez used to talk...before the losses to Salido. Nonito sees himself as being a big star soon. He might very well be right. But this talk of Rigondeaux and Mares "proving themselves" just sounds silly. Where Rigo is concerned, he'd be better off saying there's no money in that fight. Mares? There's just no excuse.

I'd love to know how Donaire thinks Mathebula "proved" himself....

I hope Donaire ends up fighting the rest of a the 122 lb division which IMO is the strongest division in Boxing.

Donaire's statments have been frustrating recently but people comparing him to Alvarez and Chavez is a joke. Donaire is a proven fighter and has a strong resume.

It's a shame that Moreno and Mares are with Goldenboy because Donaire vs the winner of that fight is the real fight at 122.

How much money does Rigo really demand? He was scheduled to receive 100k to fight Marroquin, until Hyde kicked up a fuss. Then his purse was upped to 150k. But let's assume, for the sake of argument, you're right. Why doesn't Nonito just say it's about money, not being "proven"?

Yeah, I agree.

He shouldn't make this kind of comments then fight guys like Mathebula.

To be totally honest with you I think he get's too much stick for Mathebula. I like Mathebula, I think he's a decent fighter. He's nothing special or anything but he's a solid top 10 fighter in possibly the best division in Boxing. I think it's a good win for Donaire.

But, I do agree, you can't say these things about guys like Mares who have proven themselves and then fight Mathebula.
