I have never thought Martinez was top 3 p4p. I made a thread about this nearly a year ago, and nothing he has done since has changed my mind, in fact I feel more vindicated in my assessment.

Ward, Mayweather, Pacquiao, Marquez, should all be ranked above him for sure. After that I think you could make arguments for other fighters at different times, including Donaire, Tim Bradley, Gamboa, and considering his longer term accomplishments even Cotto who is one of the very best fighters of the last 6-7 years.

I have never seen p4p as a rapidly changing thing, I think you have to consider someone's longer term accomplishments as well as recent results. Take Pacquiao for example, you could say that he has won and lost in his last 2 fights, but look who he fought and how those results played out. Both Marquez and Bradley were top 10 p4p.

Just a heads up bro...you spelled 'Alvarez' wrong.

Short-term memory loss causes a lot of NSBers to forget how highly-regarded Williams, Pavlik, and even Dzinziruk were considered before Martinez beat them. It's almost like the clear decisive nature of his victories have taken away from his resume. A bit odd...

I agree with you TS because I'm not blinded by substandard RJJ impersonators.

Mayweather, Cotto, Ward, Golovkin, Pirog, Canelo etc all have the goods to pick apart maravilla.

His reflexes are overrated. Watch RJJ-Toney and tell me he Roy would have been touched by JCC Jr.

Martinez gets caught by slow jabs and has trouble against fighters with good guards; Cotto and the likes would sh¡t all over him.

But we'll just have to wait till his next fight when he gets KO'd cold for some of his nuthuggers to defect.

Why do these clowns always say exposed...look you fair weather "fans"

-Triangle theories don't work...I shouldn't have to repeat the obvious

-Fighters lose...its part of the game...it doesn't mean "exposed". It just means you lost to someone better than you

-Your career isn't over because you lose...you can lose a fight and still be great

Anyways since your sentence/rant/block is an incoherent mess of what can barely be labeled a thought, I'll try...

          - Williams was a great win, which he won the rematch in convincing fashion and lost the first in disputed fashion
-Pavlik wasn't "exposed". His style and limitations was always there for everyone to see. He just got beat by a better fighter outside of his weightclass. He was still the man at MW.
          - Barker was a defense and a decent guy
          - Macklin was a legit win, the guy was coming off of being robbed by Sturm in a fight he should have won, you know Sturm right, a pretty good MW who's had a title for many years
-Dzinziruk was a beast at 154 and often avoided, he stepped up to the challenge and got murked, its an underrated win
-Should have a W from the Cintron fight, back when Cintron was still a good fighter.
-Chavez Jr is big, strong, young and ferocious and he got destroyed in a clinic

All these performances in just his recent rise is what gives him his much deserved ranking. All those guys, P4P, if they were the same size (which in my opinion, is the point), I can see Sergio at best going 10-2 against that competition and at worst 7-5.

And Pirog...he beats Danny Jacobs and hides in Russia and people think he can compete anywhere near the top. That's the biggest joke here

Such a fail, its freaking comical.

You guys don't even pretend to use any sort of logic when you post

You are comparing RJJ when he was like 25 fighting Chavez Jr, compared to Martinez at 37. At 37, I expect a fighter to get touched a bit. Roy at 37, fighting Chavez, he'd still be in the hospital right now.

Try thinking before you post. I know it may sting a little bit, but do try

I can't see putting him ahead of Pac, Floyd or Ward ATM.

sergio is grossly overrated in nsb due to the fact that flo mos and ptards where using him to bash flody or pac.

if you think about it, who is the best fighter sergio has faced?

                    margarito. he got crushed.

who is teh best fighter sergio has beaten?

                    paul williams.

                    how great is sergio really?
