    - Hatton went back down to 140 after an average performance at 147 then took the payday/Floyd but he sank and is now 1-1 at WW (recent).

    - Marquez moved up 2 (nearly 3) divisions to fight Floyd but sank as he never swam in those deep waters of 147 before!

    - They were ready to do the same with Khan but he got KOed .... so no fight with Floyd.

Canelo has potential but that means he needs more time and a step up in opponents .... do we know how Canelo would do against top opponents? How about opponents similar to Floyd in style defense/offense?
The thing is none of that has to do with Canelo~ sure he could lose to Floyd and suck afterward but that could be any fighter against any opponent so I don't see the need to be concerned with such things.

If you don't agree fine, but mark my words Canelo is not an easy fight for Floyd. I am not in the least bit concerned about being wrong about that~

You guys have to realize this isn't the same Mayweather that fought Cotto. If you read his last interview, he's not sounding so confident or interested anymore. He probably does believe the way he was kept in jail took something out of him physically he may never get back. The fight game is 99% mental and Floyd has shown his stay in jail did effect him. I'm picking Canello right now, unless Floyd proves he's back and as good as ever. Remember 154 is not the weight he prefers to fight at and there is a reason for that.

Canelo has potential but why not have him face a few top fighters at 154 first?

Lopez, who was in uncharted territory yesterday (154) yesterday, was stuck once he knew that it would take more to beat Canelo but Lopez can't become a boxer overnight as that was not his style coming into the fight. Same with Mosley(but can't teach old dog new tricks! lol!). Once his mediocre attack was not enough the party was over because Mosley can't switch to being a boxer.

Floyd can box ..... Canelo can **** ..... but Canelo needs more time .....

Because whether he faces those top guys or not Canelo is unlikely to change enough for it to make a difference, he is what he is either that is enough or it is not.

Fighting better guys just makes it more clear one way or the other. He should step up his opposition but if he reaches for the middle rung or the top rung or anywhere between it doesn't make much difference to me but I never have a problem with a guy going for the gusto if he so chooses.
