I mean recent history is proof enough, whether Dawson, or De La Hoya.

He's going to go to 154 and get an ass whupping. You don't know if he can make 154 easy, that is an assumption on your part, because its not like he flip flops between weights every other fight. Hell at 160, he looks like he doesn't have an ounce to spare and ripped to the core.

And what's the significance either? He holds no historical or belt value at 154. The glory is at 160. It proves NOTHING to beat a 38 year old middleweight champ down at Jr. Middleweight. Fight him at 160 or stay the eff out of his lane.
He and his trainer are saying they can easily make 154. You're entitled to your opinion but they probably have a better understanding of it than you do.

They want to get paid, they'll say whatever for a dollar.

Recent history also proves that point, referencing again DLH and Dawson said the same stuff and look where that got them, the worse ass whupping of their careers. Funny thing about this fight game, the more things change, the more they stay the same. History never favors fighters going down in weight

      I guess we'll see who's right in 2013.

There was nothing wrong with Dawson except the usual,he has trouble with younger fighters...His history shows this..The weight excuse is just a reason to discredit Wards win tbh...As for Hoya he was just washed up,if you wanna blame weight whatever...But truth of the matter was that Hoya was finished(neither example should be used to try to give a reason as to why Floyd and Sergio can not fight at 154lb)...If Martinez say's it won't be a problem,I take him at his word...The man knows his body and is a pro's pro...Martinez would not make excuses and neither should you..

I find it absolutely hilarious when i see Mayweather's fanboys come up with all sorts of excuses to try and downplay the Martinez fight.

Surely, you as a boxing fan first and foremost would rather see a matchup of 2 of the top 5 p4p fighters in the world in Mayweather and Martinez rather than a Mayweather fight against the likes of Guerrero, Bradley and even Canelo(at this point in time)?

I completely agree,May vs Martinez is the absolutely the best that can be made in boxing..But only at 154lb,this is the fight that if Mayweather took would put him in top 10 atg status should he win it...
