So, who won the fight now, huh?? hahaha. If only Chávez had stepped on the gas in the middle rounds.... Martínez was hitting a wall and Chávez with only ten punches in the fight, hurt him more than williams, Dzinziruk, the Brits, etc. And Martínez trained very hard which is ****** cause he said Chávez was too easy. Chávez deserves a rematch he was seconds away from koing Martínez.

I agree!!! I am mexican and like paquiao, even though I believe Márquez won the last fight. Still, paquiao got robbed vs Bradley and is the best p4p . Just JMM has a bad style for him . paquiao kills mayweather!!!!Comment

Speed kills. Chavez was killed by Martinez' speed.Comment

Maravilla was badly damaged in the last round and that will take a toll. When you're at that age (37) and took that kind of punishment,it will take a toll. Chavez took a lot of shot but his youth will be able to handle it plus his strong and can take a punch. Martinez fought well until the last round. I think Chavez will put a lot pressure earlier in the rematch and Martinez age will betray him. Good fight!!
Martinez.. A rematch will likely be easier for Martinez actually assuming the knee and hand holds up.

It depends what ligament, when it happened and to what extent! Some ligament injuries including MCL, LCL allow you to continue activity as lon as the injury site still warm. The swelling provides support and aids in the stability of the joint. Now, once that site cools down and the pain settles, it makes it near impossible to move around. I have sustained multiple knee ligament injuries while racing Motocross and I've been able to get back up on the bike and finish the race but the next day/weeks, I found myself in crutches. Those injuries are no fun.Comment

Yeah, Martinez could be out for over a year if it's an ACL injury and at 37? What a bastard that would be. My friend who obviously wont get the top care elite athletes like Martinez would put he still can't play football (soccer) and he was injured over 18 months ago.
He still can't really shift his weight quickly and be confident his leg just isn't going to fold beneath him.
To be fair to Chavez Jr, I suspect he would have done better if he didn't break his nose. I assume he broke his nose? It was pissing blood the entire fight. Those ACL injuries are a beast.

When I had my accident back in 94, along with 22 fractures, mostly in my joints, I actually suffered a severed ACL. The broken bones all healed enough so although I do have stiffness and arthritis pain, they function normally. My left knee though I always have to watch. It was never the same. It feels different and will give out anytime/anywhere if I am not careful. No matter how much physiotherapy I received, it only healed so far. Extending my leg out straight is nearly impossible without the help of gravity.Comment

It was a boxing clinic for most of the fight. There was some drama at the end partly because Martinez didn't want to let off and Chavez Jr. knowing he had to give it all he had left. Martinez was obviously hurt, but he did recuperate well enough at the end it seems. Martinez did not seem to take alot of damage, Chavez on the other hand looked pretty touched. If there is a rematch, I dont think the fight will be any different, unless that knee injury causes martinez mobility problems. Chavez Jr. looked as big as Andre Ward, and made Martinez look small. That helped him take alot punches, but Chavez gets hit alot and that chin of his is gonna crack sooner than later.Comment

If this report is true, then this is going to be a very costly victory for Sergio. Not only Chavez connecting few punches was able to cut and bleed Sergio but also had it in bad conditions at the time of the KD which doesn't seem to be in total agreement with an easy dominant victory (Mtz promised a KO but at the end he was the one who tasted the canvas and appeared to be looking for the final saving bell). If you add to that an ACL injury then the price paid is even higher. Recovery time for ACL can take up to 12 months and at Sergio age such a delay can be very critical. Furhtermore, one of the major assets of Sergio is his mobility and having suffering ACL lesion could lead to be recurrent which it occurs again probably would be the end of Sergio's career. Could you imagine if on next fight Sergio had the same thorn ligament by the beginning of the fight and would be forced to stand exchanging blows toe by toe with a boxer with more solid punches than Sergio? It is hard to believe than Sergio would fare very well if he wouldn't have the same type of mobility. Age will continue being a factor.Comment

Sergio can gracefully go into retirement(if the injury affects him) with peace of mind because he gave boxing fans what we all wanted. He has cemented his status as a great Champion and one of the best of its time. He had a goal, to claim what was rightfully his and he did it with authority. I hope he can come back but if he doesn't,
Thanks a lot Sergio!Comment
