Comments Thread For: Golovkin Prefers Chavez To Win, Gives Martinez The Edge

Gennady Golovkin would prefer it if Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. upsets Sergio Martinez.

Golovkin already has had his way with a less-developed Chavez in sparring sessions at Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Gym in Hollywood. And challenging Chavez (46-0-1, 32 KOs), particularly after a victory over the consensus middleweight champion, would earn Kazakhstan’s Golovkin (24-0, 21 KOs) more money than a fight against Argentina’s Martinez (49-2-2, 28 KOs).

It's going to be nothing even about this fight Golovkin. People really do sleep on Sergio Martinez to think Chavez Jr is a live wire fight for him. Martinez has clearly fought better fighters than Jr.

By that reasoning Spadafora would wreck Mayweather.

          Sparring is sparring.

          Fights are entirely different stories.

Looking to get paid like every other fighter. I'm tired of the whole "I respect this guy more cause he's willing to fight anybody" EVERY fighter would handpick their opponent if they could, it's just that only a handful of them are in the position to do so.

That, and the fact that Golovkin would most likely body-bag Jr. He would have a field day against Chavez.

If mayweather showed up inthe shape he did for their session, he'd still get wrecked.

Sparring isn't always just sparring. When Golovkin and Chavez sparred, it was in preparation for a Chavez fight. Chavez was in shape, and continue to get in better shape. His mission was to beat on his partners, look good. That didn't happen. An out of shape Golovkin with nothing lined up had his way with him - this is a bad look and says a lot.
