          Tyson, not only was the best performer during the eighties he was also the best promoter of the sport at that time by simply injecting excitement back into the sport as a whole!

            Leonard by far. Best fights, best competition, most exciting, most popular for all the right reasons. Plus People didn't even really start taking notice of Tyson until 1986.

                Even Hagler far exceeds Tyson in the 80's. Tyson came in late.
