I can't give Max all the credit for that statement as he was quoting Larry Merchant from a fight in the 80's but the fact he even repeated meant it resonated with him ...
My wife who rarely watches fights with me heard it and before I could even say anything she was like " What the **** was that all about "

      Any thoughts ???
the bold is the key to that statement.

it's max's subtle way of saying dawson just got a reality check.

that's if you'd even call it subtle.

        Ok

        I just rewatched the fight.

The entire conversation is when Merchant started talking and saying

'Chad Dawson need to step it up, he's getting the truth from his corner. He can't win the fight unless he score a knock down or two'

        Max Kellerman then said
'Ya but that's not Chad's style of fighting, the one time he was in jeopardy against Jean Pascal he did step it up, but he didn't become someone that he was not. He just became a more aggressive version of himself.''
Ala, his style did not change, he just became a 'more aggressive Chad Dawson'

Then he said 'I remember you saying Larry during the Spinks-Holmes fight that it's hard to go from being Muhammad Ali to Joe Frazier'

(talking about how Merchant was saying Holmes needed to adjust to Spink's style towards the end of the 2nd fight in order to win)

Exactly. It was pretty easy to follow. Apparently it is now Max's fault people on this board have trouble comprehending basic English.

I thought it meant he needed to stop boxing and start slugging in order to win since he wasn't going to win the rounds and needed KD's or a KO.

Hence going from Ali style to a Frazier style.

Wasn't really hard to comprehend IMO.

I have a pretty good handle on the language and if that's what he meant then it is what it is ... but all you have to do is read through the comments on this post and I'm sure you'll find a couple people that weren't sure about wtf he was talking about. I still haven't watched the fight again but it I know other people have as a result of this post ALONE so that would lead me to believe the comment could've been taken a few different ways and therefore could've been left out of the broadcast all together or worded differently
