Why do people assume he has irish blood?, I think there were lot of gingers in france from the galias, and there used to be a lot of french in that zone of M�xico.

Thats pretty sad. I remember Fernando Vargas talking crap about Duran, he said the Mexicans don't want to recognize a quitter. Vargas really hates Duran, he got mad when someone compared him to Duran he said that guy is a quitter and he said he would never quit like Duran.

It's not just the hair though, he looks Irish.

Vargas is a drugs cheat, too scared to go into the ring without help.

You know better, but to me he looks gaelic or belgian mennonite (they are still in a lot of parts of m�xico). And that is celtic, irish are also celtics I think. It is just I don�t remember any irish community in Jalisco.

'gaelic' is Scots/Irish, did you mean gallic (French)? I'm not sure about Belgium but I watch a lot of French sport and never seen a redhead.

Alvarez might not have Irish blood but he couldn't look more like a stereotypical Irish kid if he tried, although he'd pass for Scots too.

There was a piece in the telegraph about Alvarez before he fought Hatton:
