Well said. I really like Holyfield as a fighter. If he wasn't so hypocritical when speaking about God and have 20 different baby mamas, I would admire the man.

He bought his $50 million Georgia home with cash. Good idea.

The fighter of the generation has to fight the BEST and that is exactly what Holyfield did.

    -Qawi x 2
    -Moorer x 2
    -Cooper
    -Foreman
    -Bowe x 3
    -Lewis x 2
    -Tyson x 2
    -Holmes
    -Douglas
    -Ruiz x 3
    -Byrd
    -Toney
    -Rahman
    -Mercer

I don't see how anyone can say Roy Jones Jr is the fighter of the generation, Holyfield has fought top notch his whole career, one of the best resumes in the history of the sport.

There is a 10 option maximum when creating a poll.

Why did so many people vote for Jones? I thought he lost to all the best LHWs he fought with.

I'd have to say De La Hoya just for what he has done for the sport. I know he is the one who got myself into the sport and he has made a good impact on the sport. He was also incredibly talented as well. He has been one of the best fighters for the sport in years imo.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. That's why I said anyone who'd vote for Tyson is a cheerleader.

It's not a popularity contest, nor is it about excitement. If that were the case, WWE would be the greater faction than boxing in the last generation.

Naming the best fighter of a generation is about accomplishment, competition, and skill.

Tyson bottoms out on this list.

Look at the other names on the list and give your head a shake.

You could rightfully state that Jones fought very weak competition throughout his career. In terms of level of opposition, Jones has NOTHING on DLH and Tito and Holyfield.

i was thinking that but in order for toney to be on the poll we have to see how his go at heavy plays out. if he unifies i think he should be.

Jones fought 16 former or current world champions, won titles at 160 168 175 and Heavyweight. He also went almost 10 years without losing more than 3 rounds in a single fight.

If your comment is somehow supporting Tyson being on the list, let alone garnering a bunch of votes, I fail to see how that's relevent.

I didn't see it that way. I saw the poll as who has made people watch boxing and can also fight themselves out of a paperbag. So I voted for Tyson. My two favorites are Ali and Marciano; I'm a Tyson fan but I wouldn't be biased.

I wouldnt select Tyson, but I could see how the rational people who would. 100 years from now, no fighter helped (and hurt) the sport as much as Tyson.

When Tyson clicked on all cylinders, he would easily handle Lewis and possibly Holyfield. Tyson is just a mental midget.

I hate going to popularity route, but Tyson truly is a house hold name.
