He has been trying to do that for 2 years with a belt and still couldn't get fights, you really think he'll have more success now without one.

Before the HNN/Bursak stuff he was supposed to fight Barker, it may have qualified as mandatory im not sure, but Barker got a hip injury.

Most important is that unifications are supposed to supersede mandatories. He tried to fight Geale and they threated to strip him. Geale pulled out to fight Sturm and Pirog tried to unify with Golovkin who was available because Sturm was allowd to unify instead of fight his mandatory Golovkin!

Pirog tried to fight HNN but he signed to fight Bursak and it was sanctioned for the interm belt....even though the champion was trying to fight his mandatory. His potential mandatory canidates avoided fighting the champion and were awarded with a interm belt for a fight may 4th. Pirog fought HNN's replacement Ishida May 1st in a fight that should have been against Bursak or HNN.

This along with them threatening to strip him for two attempted unifications, ultimately doing so, demonstrates what Pirog stated. They were looking to get rid of him any way possible.
      Wow, ok......

Hmm. I know this and completely understand your point, however the bold is simply not the case anymore and we all know that. WBC said they'd take away Canelo's belt if he unified with WBA Champ Trout. WBA "promoted" David Haye to super champ because he fought IBF/WBO champ Klitschko instead of Chagaev.

I guess what I'm saying is; Pirog knew he was going to be stripped when he took the fight, so I don't have a problem with the WBO doing what we all knew they were going to do and strip him. He didn't care, because he was planning on either being champ for another sanctioning body or lose his title in the ring (and get paid in doing so).

I'm a Pirog fan, and I'm ok with the strippage, he's gonna be out till next year. Maybe make him champ in recess or something, at least he should be appointed mandatory for Quillin/NJikam, if that goes down. It's just that NJikam's path to the belt was as cheap (only figuratively, I'm sure someone's bank account swelled a lot) as it gets.

It'll be messed up if he doesn't get a chance to reclaim the title.

It'd be even more messed up if Pirog continued to fight for the WBO i'm sure he can get a ranking in another soup co.

I doubt that Martinez, Chavez, or Geale will fight him. Golovkin is probably the only beltholder who will if no unifications happen for him right away. Pirog will have to get himself in a mandatory position to ensure a title shot. WBO, WBC, WBA are all horribly corrupt organizations right now all at the same time.
