Hey, rumors are that Cotto demanded extra testing. So maybe it wasn't about the weight, maybe Pac refused the drug testing again? Since you think weight isn't that big of a deal, maybe you are correct. Maybe Pac just denied taking any extra tests once again.
Wow, all of this rumors and maybe's... But i know of one fact, Manny after fighting a big man in Margarito, made a stand never to fight above the WW limit again.. You are actually talking about a midget man fighting way way above his comfort zone at WW and even more at 150lbs.!! Then you ask, why fight Miguel then, why not challenge other fighters at WW or even at JWW level, it's because Cotto brings in more money outside of Floyd...

Pacquiao is in his comfort zone at WW that's why he made JMM and Bradley move up.

The point was, in so many years not until recently when he fought Floyd, the fighter in Cotto NEVER ever claimed it was due to weight draining that he lost the Manny fight, he never said a thing about the catchweight... It was when he fought Floyd, that junior instilled that idea in Miguel that Cotto's losses with Margarito and Pacquiao were both not legit, for one was using loaded gloves while the other he was weight drained with a 1lbr. CW... That actually both Floyd and Miguel were in essence undefeated leading up to their fight, that was how Floyd and his minions perceived it to be.... Stupid but true...

Pacquiao said before the fight the 1lb difference could affect everything a fighter does in the ring, and Cotto will find it hard to make weight. Basically admitting the CW was to make him weaker. Pacquiao and his team set out to fight a weaker fighter and Pac fans complain when people say Pacquiao got what he wanted.

            • if cotto was already down to the bone making weight why did he weigh 146 lbs on his last fight against manny , this forums just gets dumber and dumber

fight was not even close , it was a total beatdown

Actually with Manny's body frame, as Ariza said they can actually still make it at 140lbs easy... But they chose not to because the MONEY FIGHTS are at WW and above... WW is not Manny's comfort zone, it is his PEAKED ZONE!!! Manny if he just chosen to stay at 135-140lbs. should have easily dominated that field for no one can knock him out there and just fight with no regard of himself being knocked out cold... That field, LW-JWW could have been Manny's comfort zone, that's why when he stepped up to WW level Manny's game plan changes, he is now more cautious, he is not as reckless as when he was at lighter weight, he is not as comfortable as before... The only comfort for Manny fighting at WW is that, he is actually fighting close to his walking around weight, the only comfort is in his training, he doesn't have to think of his weight during training... But when faced with bigger WWs that can go up to MW at fight night, the toll is on how durable his body could hold off the beating...

Cotto wanted the Pacquiao v Hatton winner and was probably told by Arum he would have to accept a catch weight to fight the likely winner (Pacquiao) so he was testing weighing in a little lower.

Bradley and JMM fights would have been bigger at 140 than 147. Money excuse is plain BS.................sorry

It was Roach who said that, and Roach always blab around before a fight with this psychological warfare... He was the one who said Khan will KO Garcia early... All you Manny-haters just have to understand, Manny was a career FW fighter just a year ago before fighting Cotto, 2 fights prior he fought Oscar at 142lbs. for a WW fight and fought Ricky at 138lbs. Manny is actually a small WW fighting a legit and bigger WW in Miguel, so the 1lbs minus from Miguel's last fight, i don't think it affected Cotto at all... And just to remind you, it was initially set to 144lbs. but it was Cotto who suggested a 145lbs limit...
