No reason why Canelo couldn't have fought Trout like Cotto's doing now.

We are watching the process of elimination unfold in front of our very eyes.

Once all the elite have beaten each other into a vegatable state, Canelo will then fight who he should've been fighting now. Then his fans will say "See, Canelo's fighting them. I told you he would. What's the problem"?

This has become the norm in boxing.
Has it become a "norm" in boxing to have a scheduled opponent who then FAKES a shoulder injury, and then nearly kills himself in a motorcycle accident? Then the focus is shifted over to a legit force at WW, who then had his jaw shattered by the underdog?

It's only fair they gave Lopez that chance. Canelo would destroy Cotto regardless.

why should pac be scared of fighting bradley when he easily won the first fight? there isn't anything in bradley's game that should scare pac.

but clearly I'm going to lose this argument because I suspect you have some sort of machine you invented that allows you to read the mind of pacquiao, which is why you're making such bold, matter of fact statements. And if that's the case then I guess I'll have to take your word that pac wants nothing to do with bradley. Of course when pac chooses to fight bradley, this said machine of yours will also allow you to know the absolute truth which obviously is that bob arum is forcing pacquiao to fight bradley and deep inside pac is terrified of desert storm, despite the fact 99.999% of the population believes he beat him easily the first time around. In the meantime, I'll be working intensely on creating my own mind reading machine so I can be better equipped with facts and vast knowledge on NSB like yourself.

So you're saying Kirkland faked his injury before the Molina fight?

Canelo gets no points for trying to fight kirkland injured.

Sure Canelo tried to fight Williams who was 1-2 in his last 3 fights. I thought Williams was on the decline by the time he was in line to fight Canelo, unless you thought Williams UD win over Ishida somehow catipulted him to the top of the division and made us forget about his two previous fights. If I'm not mistaken, HBO was asking for his retirement during the Lara fight. Nonetheless, The Williams fight was a good step up. But Williams/Kirkland getting injured and already injured doesn't mean fight Ortiz (two fights at WW) and fight Lopez (140lb fighter). No, it means fight whoever's next up in your division (Lara orTrout).

I just don't get how you guys think that not getting a fight with Willliams and an injured Kirkland means fight a Welterweight and Junior Welterweight. No, not getting a fight with Williams and an injured Kirkland means fight the next up challenger in your division. Heck, I would've even accepted a fight with Vanes or waiting on Kirkland to recover over Lopez. I mean I thought this was common sense?

Trout is undefeated and a champ. Good scalp to add to Cotto's resume.

I didn't think the weight would break the deal. I don't think Cotto would have any problems making 150lbs. I just think Cotto is at the stage where he is tired of being dictated to. He is big enough and has enough opportunities that he can decide his own future. Good for him.

When I saw what Manny's camp were pushing for, I thought the 8oz gloves would be the real deal breaker, not 150lbs.

As a technicality 8oz is illegal for the weight , and why dont Manny take the same guy Floyd just beat , Floyd did not have the luxury of stopping Cotto in times past and he didnt hesitate on the weight , what it says loud and clear is that Mannys " string puller" thinks Cotto is to risky to fight at his comfortable weight , your right weight is not the deal breaker , if it was at 154 !!

Manny wants none of that , so the weight must be the roadblock .

Glad to see we will never see a Pac vs Cotto rematch. Would have been so pointless. As much as I hate to say this really his only option should be Bradley and then fight Floyd next year. Only fights that make sense for him at this stage of his career.
