This is why I was hoping he would've fought Cotto in December. The sooner he lost the sooner he had to work his way up and the sooner he had to fight these guys in his division. But then again, don't forget how he got his belt... By doing absolutely nothing.

I wouldn't be surprised if they threw Canelo in there with Floyd while keeping Bundrage on the reserves in case Canelo lost. Easy belt for the guy... AGAIN.

It pains me to see that it is Cotto who stepped up to the plate. Because he will lose to Trout. But even though I know he will lose, the amount of respect that he has earned from me is just another reason why in the time of pampered superstar diva personalities, Cotto stands head & shoulders above the rest.

I'm also happy to know that it is Cotto who is ushering the new breed of elite fighter at 154. Cotto again proves why he is a classy guy. While ginger beats up on jr welterweights, Cotto passes the torch to a man ginger ducked, well done Miguel, I salute you.
Good post! One small correction tho...

Trout is just another undefeated fighter that Miguel is gonna beat off their pedestal!

Remember that K9 has to fight the winner of Rosado/Whittaker, so that's one less back-up option. Reality is gonna hit him hard when Floyd starts landing his lead right hands and he can't seem to get outta the way of them.

Crazy what kind of options free up for a fighter when they're a free agent. This fight never happens under Top Rank, also, Miguel gets credit for fighting another young, undefeated fighter that's in the top tier of his division. This is one of the tougher styles for Cotto to face at 154 as well as Lara, Molina.

cotto might be pass his prime but trout might have biten of a lil to much. I see cotto winning a fight that's starts competive but turn in the typical COTTO stalking his opponent type fight

If the fight turns into a technical boxing match Trout wins he's a good defensive fighter good counter puncher. If the fight turns into a fight/slug fest Cotto wins he's the better harder puncher in the late rounds he'll KO Trout

with younger fighters YOU JUST DON'T KNOW, you go in assuming ok he is still young, he hasn't been tested, then next thing you know your in the 6th Round and your looking for answers from your corner wondering "WTF DID I GET MYSELF INTO"

It is a strong possibility that Trout could pick Cotto apart from the outside, using his Reach and Jab and excellent timing and counter punching
