If there is one thing that boxing has been missing, it's Oleg Makaev.

    Nagy Aguilera-Maskaev II anyone?

Well, I'm not happty he' fighting again, but if he does, I'd like to see him. He is one of the fewfighters in these past years who has true one punch KO power. I saw him KO Hasim Rahman with a short left uppercut during a bout of infighting/clinching. One punch. That was about a year before Rahman KO'd Lewis. But Maskaev I seem to recall has a very poor chin, and I think he's been KO's in every fight he's lost. I remember noting this a few years ago, around thhe time he was on his last few fights.

I don't know why a fighter that retired due to being badly faded and ineffective, would think that anything could change for the better after a 3 year layoff. I get that the body has had a chance to heal, but damn you are 43! Feed him to Fury or Wilder I guess.

oleg was an old warhorse. he had true one punch power & he had a great left hook. his chin was his only weakness & it let him down a few times. i just don't see the point of him returning. he was trying to get vitali in the ring until aguilera knocked him out. it doesn't matter how good of shape he is in because you don't just grow a better beard overnight.

I thought Oleg was running for City Council in his adopted hometown of Sacramento and that he has put together a nice real estate portfolio with his earnings. I've always looked at Oleg as one of the smart ones but a comeback is a bad idea that I hope he scuttles. He had a solid career and got a lot of mileage out of it. But he's got to let it go.
