leonard was never boring, and mayweather isn't either, ward shouldn't confuse having skills with being boring,,,all that constant clinching i,i've said it a lot of times, you can have skills and not be boring, mayweather isn't neither is marquez,i don't ever remember a fight where marquez held a lot or mayweather did, don't confuse skills with plain boring fighters,i have a feeling i'll be flipping through channels when these guys fight, not once have a done that with jmm or mayweatherComment

There are some people who enjoy boxing for what it is, and there are some people who think all boxing matches should be like the thunderdome.Comment

What makes boxing such a great sport is the fact you have many different personalities and many different styles. That's why boxing can never die. No matter what other sport rises up, it will always be #1 for one on one combat. Ward's style isn't necessarily boring. Its the fact that most of his opponents get bullied by him and can't adapt. They start fighting to survive. I don't think that will happen with Dawson. They are both highly skilled, so I think it will be a contest of technique, discipline, and will. I wouldn't be surprised if this fight was a draw.
I love seeing a brawl just like the average fight fan, but there is nothing like watching 2 masters of their craft try to out manuever and out think each other. Its like an intense game of chess. You can have a great brawler that's exciting, but 90% of the time, they will lose to a masterful boxer. I think back to how great and invincible Julio Cesar Chavez was in his prime. Do you remember how easy Pernel Whitaker made it look in their fight? The judges robbed him for being so brilliant. Not saying that Chavez was a brawler, but he was a very aggressive fighter.Skills pay the bills.
Its those same skillful fighters today that promoters keep their fighters from. Promoters know that their aggressive fighters might fill the seats up, but they understand that their fighters will get defeated somewhat easily if put in with one of those "boring" skilled fighters. For example, Arum is keeping Pacquiao away from Mayweather until he is ready to retire. Then the fight will happen. GoldenBoy is keeping Alverez away from Lara. They know what the results will be. Broner will always have a tough time getting a fight until he becomes a cash cow. At the end of the day, this sport is not called fighting or brawling. Its called boxing and Ward and Dawson are 2 of the best at doing it.Comment

If you're a boring fighter to the masses then it is what it is, don't complain because it's you who chooses to fight like that.
To be fair to Ward he hasn't complained, neither did B-Hop really but Mayweather used to whine like a baby about not getting credit and being called boring.Comment

I look at like this. When an opposing fighter is good enough, he'll make these guys fight for their lives.
You can't blame them for being that good. If an opponent was fast enough to close the ring off, they wouldn't keep moving around the ring. If an opponent was strong enough, or smart enough to sneak inside shots, they wouldn't want to clinch. If an opponent had a sweet jab, they wouldn't want to box from the outside.
Every so-called "boring" attribute could be nullified by a fighter who's good enough to execute the opposing strategy. I wild brawler who gets picked apart by jabs and can't get to a skilled boxer is boring too.Comment
