He let his opponent hit him to much. Just like he did with Alfonso Gomez. but Canelo is a big guy.

And you know nothing about sparring or boxing for that matter.

In professional boxing There is no point in trying to bum rush your sparing partner when you are training for a big fight just to impress the camara.
Mostly you will be working on your weaknesses on day the next day going to the body and some days somthing else.
Havever what is alwasy the case is that the sparing partners will go at you with all the got in order to push you, thats why the ofthen have 5 or more sparing partners so the can give you to rounds with full steam and then the next partner until your weakness is exploded and you are forced to learn.

It is glaringly clear to me that he was working on his defense while landing some counters.
Do you understand the concept of training as a boxer because it sounds like you dont?, You work on your weaknesses.
Sparing as a pro boxer is not the same as some mindless street brawl where you give all you got from the get go, instead you work on what you could do better period,
Watching sparing clips is properly the worst way to judge a fighter.

Il go on step further, Freddy roach is on of the few trainers that let his fighters spare full-on almost every time. Sure the are good on the attack but look have his fighters fight inside the ring.
The know only to attack and when the opponent finds there weakness the get staged, knocked down,or countered to death
And its proven over and over again.

If he would work on there weaknesses in sparing the would do much better.

This isn't always the case. He's at the point of camp now where they should be implementing the plan to it's entirety. I'm sure they were going HARD in the gm a week or 2 ago too. At some point, you stop 'working' on things, and stop pulling punches to fully implement the plan. This is why sparring partners often times get beat up.. and the ones who hold their own remain.

Freddy isn't one of the only trainers who let his guys spar full on, they all do. You just don't see it - you see it with freddie though. You have to exert yourself teh way you would in a fight at some point in camp so it can be gauged if you can go a 'hard' 12 or not. Doing 12 lax sparring rounds will never tell the full story.
