It's always the same. Roach has candidly admitted that Team Pac want Cotto at a catchweight because (and I quote): "if Manny can knock Cotto out at 150lbs, it'll give them more leverage negotiating with Mayweather". Just like Roach candidly admitting that they would NOT offer Mosley the same deal as DLH because (I quote again): "He ain't Oscar. He's too good". Roach openly admits to stacking the deck in every way possible.
Now Arum is doing down Cotto, maybe for not accepting to be part of their little charade, by stating he always wants easy fights after losing. Fights that Arum himself signed off on, and promoted.
All this is out in the open, but all the predictable ones can say is: "uuhhhhhh.... wellll.... what about Floyd!? It's all his fault! He's scared to fight Manny! He's the reason Arum/Roach and Manny are having to blatantly cherrypick a fight to make him look good.... it's Mayweather's fault Manny sc****d by Marquez and got jobbed to Bradley".
I can see it's much easier to do that than stick to the topic at hand. Team Pacquiao blatantly want Cotto because his style fits Manny. They blatantly want to stack the deck by only offering a catchweight against someone Manny already destroyed and they want YOU all to pay top dollar for it. I understand though. To acknowledge this would mean acknowledging how carefully Manny's career has been plotted in recent times. It's just too much for some people to take. Like the end of their little worlds.
Ask Manny who he's fighting and he says: "uuhhhhhh it's up to my promoter, Bob Arum". Ask Bob who Manny's fighting and he says Manny picks his opponents. What's the truth here? People cling to this 40 million, no PPV offer (a low ball, no doubt), but convenitently forget the amount of excuses coming from Arum just before. Remember the deep cut? Remember the stadium? Remember the lack of Mayweather's guarantee? It was like 2009 all over again with the excuses over testing. Did it seem to anyone like Arum was all for this fight and was doing everything to make it? He's lucky mayweather ******ly did him a favour with that offer in a media sense. Manny stated he would accept less money to make the fight, then goes back to the 50/50 stance. Since, his performances and numbers haven't warranted it. I find it hard to see where he even gets $40 million fighting anyone else. Team Pac know it too, which is why they wanted Cotto (with a stacked deck) and why we're having this conversation.Comment

And the split thing, accepting less money doesn't mean a humiliating fixed offer, could well mean 52/48, or 55/45, something reasonable.Comment

Snob Arum came with the same Mambo, and Cotto said F u c k you! I'm fighting someone else. Good for Cotto! Scrw that old greedy hustler.Comment

Uhh, first of all 150 should not be a problem for Cotto, he requested this last time he fought a ranked (barely?) super welter. He requested 160 fight night, and you want to believe he can't do 150 easy? Plus there'd be no title at stake, so what's the problem? There's no bragging rights, it's purely a fight to boost everyone's bank account and Pac's leverage.

Also, it appears Cotto may have refused to play a part (for the second time) in the game of "Let's build the Pacman". He doesn't accept the catchweight and guess what..... no fight. Does that mean that Pacquiao is scared of him? He makes an offer Cotto has already refused, knowing it to be an issue and that's perfectly reasonable. When others make offers they know fighters will refuse- they call that ducking. Also, I'll ask again. Where will Pacquiao make $40 million seeing as his numbers and performances aren't warranting it? His team know this is a problem which why they're trying to get this fight in the first place. Surely you can understand that. I'm not saying it was a fair offer, by the way. But they obviously feel that they can't demand what they want or else they wouldn't be trying to get Cotto in the ring.
They want to "out-do" Mayweather while taking less risks so they can gain leverage. They are making an offer Cotto has already refused to minimize risk. They want fans to pay top dollar to watch Pacquiao beat someone he already beat- under exactly the same conditions (catchweight). Try to dispute that if you can.Comment

Way to completely dodge the point. I'll try and make it easy for you. Team Pac have been openly honest why they want Cotto as an opponent. They're also trying to limit the risk (stack the odds in their favour) while they do it. Mentioning what Cotto did against anyone else doesn't change this. Arum is also showing himself to be a hypocrite by slating Cotto for doing things HE HIMSELF signed off on and promoted so the fans would buy it.

Forbes had Pac making 62m (?) last year, so 40m is not earth shattering for him. But what's worse, after paying out Arum, that 40m would barely amount to more than he gets for the likes of Mosley.Comment

Pac was not willing to go up to 150 first time around. Like he said after Marg, he had no interest in fighting above 147. Arum claims he was willing to do 150 the second time, so it's false that Cotto had already rejected it. So for whatever reason he rejected 150 this time. I won't call him a hypocrite re Marg, he probably really wanted to fight in NYC, which won't work for Pac.

I sincerely doubt the 62 mil Pac made was from fight purses alone. 40 mil in one fight is a lot under present circumstances. They want more, hence this charade and they want YOU to pay for it with full knowledge of that. You can't dispute this so you'll keep being talking about obscure things rather accept what's in front of your face. I suppose it is true that "ignorance is bliss".Comment

Being pedantic in the face of the facts might make you feel better but it doesn't change things. Team Pac know Cotto won't go for a deal designed to weaken him (if it doesn't why ask for it?). They're trying to get this fight to outdo Mayweather, but won't do it under the same conditions. Roach himself said so.

40m wasn't offered under present circumstances, it was after Pac was coming off the huge ppv success with JMM. Of course the 40m was not Pac's share, it was TR/Pac, an inconvenient fact you keep ignoring. Either that, or you never had a job and don't understand that 100k pretax is not tons more than 60k posttax. Too obscure for you?Comment
