Dawson for me, clearly.
Better resume, Dawson or Ward?

It's close. Dawson has a few more top level fights, because he's older and been at that level a couple years longer. Since late 2009 though, it's definitely Ward.
Dawson has wins over Adamek (WBC LHW champ/Top 10 LHW), Johnson (Top 10 LHW), Tarver (IBF LHW champ/#3 LHW), and Hopkins (WBC/RING LHW champ/#10 P4P).
Ward has wins over Kessler (WBA SMW champ/#1 SMW), Green (Top 10 SMW), Bika (Top 10 SMW), Abraham (Top 10 SMW), and Froch (WBC SMW champ/#3 SMW). -

He beat them the first time too. Since 2009, Dawsons wins have been rematches against Johnson and Tarver, who he'd already beaten, and Hopkins. To be fair, none of those guys were in their primes or really close to it. Not to say they weren't good though, because they were.
Green may have turned to be that, but he was still a Top 10 fighter at the time. Kessler and Froch are still top fighters right now, and Abraham and Bika were solid wins.
Since 2009, it's easily Ward. But it's close for total resume, with Dawson having the edge. Ward will overtake him though, if he beats Dawson. Still wish this fight was happening at a decent CW or at 175.Comment

Its do close to the point to be negligible. If go ward tho only because Dawson has a loss to a rather weak opponent.Comment

Dawson has more fights and has been fighting longer, he also has a couple of big NAMES on his resume, in Tarver, Hopkins and Adamek. With Tarver and Hopkins though, as a big Hopkins fan myself, they were both way past their best, especially Hopkins. Yes, Hopkins had two hard fights with Pascal, but 47 is 47 and that does matter.
Tarver was at his best in 2004-ish. Hopkins right now isn't even as good as he was in '08. Just look at his body in the fight with Dawson, and THEN look at his body against Calzaghe and Pavlik, look how much softer he's gotten. Hopkins has finally aged. Tarver, Johnson and Hopkins are solid wins, but to ME, don't compare to Ward's undefeated run through the SMW tournament, it just simply doesn't compare.
So, their careers and resumes from 2009, Ward takes the cake undoubtedly IMO. When you take into consideration the fact that Ward was fighting young, prime, championship level fighters. And, Ward has done all this in a rather short 25 fight pro career. When you compare both of their TOTAL resume's down to the nitty gritty, I think it's about even, or Dawson might have a slight edge.
The fact that Dawson has fought past their prime older fighters isn't his fault, he fought who was there. I'm not insinuating otherwise. But he still has mainly only fought older past their prime fighters besides, Pascal and Adamek, and he lost to Pascal. His most impressive performance and win IMO, was the Adamek fight. Even though Adamek seemed to of hit his peak at CW.
So, all in all it's close, especially when you consider Ward hasn't been fighting as long, nor does he have as many fights. But, I think without a doubt Ward has already had a tougher career, with the Super Six. Dawson's a very good fighter, but I think Ward is just one notch above him overall as a fighter. And, I think that will be displayed on Sep. 8th. Good question though, TS.Comment
