Taekwondo is point fighting. It's like amateur boxing using legs. Kicks are not generally meant to be powerful but instead fast to score points.

Muay thai fighters tho would murder boxers. Because those guys throw their legs at you with full power.

I've been boxing for 2 years have had 5 fights. My brother has been doing MMA for about 8 months or so. He does a lot of the kick boxing classes and sometimes we fool around and spar. When he throws kicks I don't got a clue wtf to do and even when I block it hurts like **** and you cant do anything about it.

Taekwondo is completely useless. Just flashy kicks but that's it.

Good post. Boxing can be used very early on by new practitioners. Most martial artists take much longer to become effective fighters. There's just so much to learn. And, because sparring is an integral aspect of real boxing training, novices get to practice actual fighting. This is a far cry from the ultra-controlled or (usually) non-existent contact most new martial artists experience. Bottom line: if you want to be a fighter, you must fight, not pretend to fight.

Eh? Without gloves it is harder to string punches together as each individual shot causes a degree of pain but that is offset because with gloves on your punches do less damage, are easier to block and are slower.

actually...sportsscience has proven that punches with gloves actually do more damage. which is only possible by throwing at a higher velocity without fear of reprecussions.

boxing gloves do make it easier for punches to be blocked or parried though.

Well this boils down to boxing being combat oriented...while not all karate/taekwando is actually used in combat.. As they say... Only way to become a better fighter is by fighting. Those guys had obviously (probably) never been in a fight where as the boxers were way more composed and seemed much more experienced... Throwing a punch combination to someone youre a lot better than without gloves isnt an issue. Unless you dont know how to pull your punches.....then I dont know what to tell you...

And what above poster is mostly correct. Being hit with gloves is much easier to block against though... But if you've ever been hit with a REAL boxing glove (and not swap meet ones...) youd know how heavy and concussive the punch really feels with a glove.

Exactly. So I would have liked to see the boxers fight without gloves just like the karate dudes had to.

When you know your hand is protected from injury you are free to throw your punches with reckless abandon. That's why brass knuckles were invented.

All three of those guys against the boxer, looked pathetic and laughable. You can take away the gloves from the boxer and force him to fight karate or taewkwondo or whatever, and he'd still kick their asses. They just looked overmatched not even talking about styles, they just looked overmatched as men. They just didn't look like fighters at all. Like if they were picked off from the street. The boxer was decent and looked like he's fought before.

Consistently yes. First connected punch no but after that it shouldn't really matter much unless you're unfortunate to hit them on the forehead.
