Ryan Rhodes is the only true 154lber, but he was a Euro-level underdog. GBP is doing good things for his career, but what's good for him isn't good for us.

Doing good things for his career? Maybe. But how does fighting smaller guys, washed up fighters and bums supposed to make you better for the real deal? Id say they are doing good for his pockets not his career itself.

As long as people are willing to pay to view mismatches, then his pockets will get lined nicely. As much as fighters talk about wanting to prove themselves and how they wanna fight the best, the biggest priority will always be $$$. Canelo is just potential until proven otherwise, and I'm tired of waiting.

Some poster named a faded Cintron as one of his best opponents
It's not about what the opponent did in their career up to that point, look at their condition in their past couple fights. Cintron was coming of a loss to Molina and a UD win over some irrelevant opponent. Mosley was coming off multiple mediocre performances, **** the "title" variable.

Yea dude... I already grew tired of waiting. I was a fan till Mayorga's and Lopez's name came up for this fight. Sure Lopez is deserving of this fight but he didnt even want it himself. They made it look like boxing ran out of 154 lbers...

Too much common sense in this post. To be a fan of ginger, you have to go above & beyond anything realistically necessary to defend the guy. Cintron came of an espn win in a fight he could have easily lost to (earn) his ginger shot. Mosley came off years of sub par performances & (shot) implications to (earn) his shot.

Canelo is still living off the "eye" test, cuz it's definitely not the quality of his opponents that fans are impressed with. "MOSLEY FUTURE HOFer" lmao. People throw out the age excuse for why he's fighting this type of opposition, but then drop that excuse when fighting Cotto/Mayweather comes up. He's young enough to fight past-prime/outmatched opponents, young enough to fight the smaller guys with top names, but he's too young to fight Vanes/Lara/Molina/Rosado/Kirkland/Angulo? What nonsense.

Man, watching Shobox last night, they kept running ads for Canelo/Josesito, and in every shot Josesito he is really pudgy. And you know damn well its just to get up to that weight. Come fight night, I see Canelo badly bullying a fighter much too small to share a ring with him.

                    What a bunch of crock!
Name one fighter besides Floyd that calls his own shots and chooses his opponents?
Canelo has no fooken say who he wants to fight u idiots!
He signed to fight Kirkland and the beeotch backed out witha fake injury
Then he signed to fight Williams and the idiot was riding his bike reckless and gets paralyzed (fooken sucks)
Then he signs to fight Ortiz and he gets his jaw realigned by Lopez.
I think it's a bull**** fight too but let's not blame canelo.

You guys will be surprised when this fight ends up being a FOTY candidate. I was surprised with Lopez's performance against Ortiz, he caught me off guard. But this time I won't underrate him, i'll expect him to turn in a hell of a performance again. But I am a Canelo fan though, so I want to see him win, but I want to see Lopez give his best in this one. I'm calling it, by the end of 2012, Lopez will have been in the top 2 Fight of the Years, including upset of the year and who knows maybe double upset of they year.
