Both. Punchers are genetically gifted with a certain ratio of slow/fast twitch muscle fibers. It also works the same way for guys who are fast or with some others who have great endurance, it depends a lot on genetics.

However genetics are just a "potential" that can be developed, so for example if a guy who's genetically a puncher decides to become a runner, he won't develop his power the same way as a guy who starts training boxing since he's a little kid.

Muscles dont have to show to create this power. You have minor muscles and you have reflexes and technique.

Your body type also defined by your environment from diet and training from a young age. The puncher is created in the gym.

There is no way Foreman would be a puncher without a boxing gym.

Bradley could be made into a puncher if he chose too, but thats not his "style".

Saying punchers are "born" is just boxing fable stories to tell non-boxing fans in the pub or bar. It makes you sound clever, reality is the science proves you wrong.

NOOO God did not create you MORE powerful than any other man/woman!

Punchers are born, but of course you still have to train to reach your potential.

It dont matter how hard some train, you just arent going to be able to punch like Bruce lee, or Mike Tyson.

IMO they're born with good genetics and trained from a young age by a puncher who can teach the kid the right technique in an easy to learn way.

Tommy Hearns had 155 amateur wins with 7 stoppages.

Sometimes it's both. Most of the time it's going to be natural.

              Bull****.

It's gentics man some kids are smarter then other some are faster then others some are strong so on and do fourth. That's like saying if joe frazier and and Roy jones did the exact same things in life and ate exactly the same Frazier would be as physically gifted as jones...or vice versa

Everynow and then though you'll see a seemingly light puncher harness it for a night and knock the f uck out of someone so it could be mindset related as well..especially considering some hard punchers seemingly pull their punches in exchange for speed/not setting their feet. I think there's a lot of variables in physiology too... It's no secret Pac's power comes from his mutant legs, Bundrage is brute strength, Nonito, Bute and Martinez get a lot of leverage (almost like a coil, you can see it from their entire body that the punch is potent) so I think its a combination of things when I think of it that way. Bailey seems to be a case of genetics though... I mean he just throws a punch and it looks as if his hand must weigh a ton with the reaction the opponent has. Like his hand is made of steel or somethin lol
Similar to Lucas M. His punches look pretty dam average when it comes to speed, snap etc but when he does catch people you only have to look at their faces to see how much it hurts. I think you are born to hit hard but you can increase what you have with good training and teaching.

                  BORN.

Julian Jackson is 1 in a million.

If you think Julian trained harder than other athletes, you're fooling yourself.

how often did mike tyson fight someone his size? most of the people he fought looked like giants compared to him, taller, more mass, just plain old bigger guys, he used to get punched and not be fazed, but how was it that he was able to knock people out with one punch?
