Kirkland sues Golden Boy, trainers

I get it. Kirkland and Ann Wolf have a great story behind them and it would be a shame if they went separate ways. It doesn't mean she's necessarily a great trainer. It's not as if Wolf has some type of track record with other fighters where you can say for sure she knows her stuff. Kirkland must have left her twice for a reason, whether it be because of training issues or personal issues between them. But people here just seem to KNOW that Kirkland needs to stick with Wolf and are acting as if they know them personally and know the full story.
I swear, some of these people who are so up and arms about Kirkland wanting to leave Wolf (especially the first time) are getting just as bad as those people who are so upset that Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson from Twilight broke up in real life. THEY WERE SO IN LOVE. YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW
Anyway, whether it's Kirkland's fault or Ann Wolf's fault doesn't change the fact that he's a one dimensional brawler, which will only get him so far. I don't blame him if he wants to try something different.
She did pretty well for herself as a pro boxer though.....she was homeless and became one of the most feared female boxers in the world, she retired because no one wanted to fight her......I'd venture to guess that she knew a thing or two about dedication and what it takes to be a winner.

Maybe 50 cent will buy out his contract? 50 cent is also going to be at the Chavez vs Martinez fight because he is one of the Key sponsors for Chavez Jr. and this is chavez last fight on Top Rank. If 50 cent is able to get Chavez Jr to sign with TMT, than 50 cent as a promoter is the real deal, nobody has ever been really able to take a fighter from Arum without a huge ass lawsuit and he got Gamboa already.Comment

Lol in two months the contract will be bought out and he will be with TMT. Bank on it.
Also, if people remember Kirkland's shoulder injury and the fight with Canelo. The way Schaeffer (his promoter) threw him under the bus in that situation was shit. A promoter shouldn't be doing that.
I agree
I think there doing just fine. They have some marquee names to start off with.Someone will land an hbo/shotime date and we'll be forced to eventually see one of TMT's events.Comment

More than a few of the guys they are picking up have been out of fighting for a substantial amount of time and involved in controversy of some sort. I know Gamboa had his reasons but he does fit the profile. Next we have Berto...lost his last fight, steroid accusations and it has been a while since he last fought. Dirrell claimed to be devastated by the most lethal illegal punch in boxing history and hasn't fought anyone worth note in almost 3 years after being touted as one of the next top p4p guys in the sport. Now Chavez jr who Arum is clearly feeding to a guy that he does not feel Chavez is on par with and admitted to avoiding him [Martinez] for a while now. Next we have Kirkland and his drama, who will likely attempt to move to TMT after the smoke clears.
This all seems to be "risky' business or an upstart company....which is understandable that you have to take risks to see a dramatic reward but I just see too much baggage and wasted investment for an upstart to take hold.
Gamboa, to me, is the best investment that they have made, Berto maybe if they feed him some more scrubs for a while. Berto is already revered as a hype-job and that won't help his marketability at all.
Maybe it's just me but big names don't mean big success....if you pick up careers already on the down-slide, it's hard to imagine incredible success off the acquisition.Comment

didn't they also sign celestino caballero? not sure why they did but eh, it's their business. i also think i saw zab judah's name thrown around with tmt, but i'm not sure on that one. i wonder who else they'll pick up along the way. i won't say too much about tmt until they have their first card and really start moving their fighters along, but scooping kirkland up would be a big waste of time imo.Comment
